In a new production at the Covina Center for the Performing Arts, Steel Magnolias, the acclaimed biographic memoir of Southern womanhood by Robert Harling, will feature Eve Himmelheber as M'Lynn, the steely mother whose goal is to protect her diabetic daughter, Shelby from the dangers that her marriage and pregnancy may inflict.

The producers of the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway production of' Thornton Wilder's Our Town, have announced that Obie Award-winner Jason Butler Harner will assume the central role of 'Stage Manager' in David Cromer's staging of Wilder's timeless play. Beginning Tuesday, August 25th, Mr. Harner will succeed Mr. Cromer who departs the company to begin rehearsals for his Broadway directorial debut this fall with Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound.

Actor Joe Morton has been cast in recurring role on ABC's 'Brothers & Sisters.' Morton will be seen as a medical school mentor to Justin Walker (Dave Annable).

Motherhood Out Loud, a new American play, conceived by Susan R. Rose and Joan Stein, produced by Ms. Rose, Ms. Stein, Renee Landegger and Judith Resnick, directed by Lisa Peterson, and written by more than 15 writers, will have a special work-in-progress, 3-performance engagement as part of Bay Street Theatre's 2009 'Bay Street at the Parrish' season. Motherhood Out Loud plays July 30 - August 1 at the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, NY.

Variety reports the sad news that Linda Dangcil, a dancer and actress who played Sister Ana on the ABC series 'The Flying Nun,' and appeared in the film version of 'West Side Story'died May 7th at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after an eight-year battle with throat cancer. She was 67 years old.

stageFARM (Carrie Shaltz, Founder/Executive Director and Alex Kilgore, Artistic Director) announced the complete cast for the upcoming World Premiere The Gingerbread House by Mark Schultz, directed by Alex Kilgore. Performances were set to begin Friday, April 11th, but the first few previews were delayed and the production starts this evening Monday April 13th as a visiting production at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (224 Waverly Place). Opening Night is set for Saturday evening, April 18th at 8 p.m.

The 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were simulcast Live Nationally on TNT and TBS last night, Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. CT, and 6 p.m. MT from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.
