FOCUS DANCE is a part of FOCUS 2014, the National Platform to promote American dance both abroad and nationally. The week-long platform presents performances of U.S. based dance companies during the annual Arts Presenters Conference in New York City, and one of the largest gatherings of artists, dancers and dance professionals in the U.S. In January 2014, two venues partner with Gotham Arts Exchange to present the artistic visions of the curators gathered to shape the 2014 edition of FOCUS.

Music by singer-songwriter and former ballet dancer Rachael Sage has been featured in Lifetime Network's popular reality show "Dance Moms" in the season premiere on January 1st, New Years Day, and will also be featured later in the season.

Actor, writer, and comedienne Katie Rubin will reprise her new solo show, Why I Died, a Comedy! for nine performances only at the Atwater Village Theatre beginning tonight, January 3, 2014. Hugh Whitemore's play, Pack of Lies, opening at The Adobe Theater on January 10th. Experienced director Joann Danella has chosen this tense drama, based on real events, to launch our 2014 season. She has previously directed 14 shows at The Adobe ranging from comedy (Belles, The Odd Couple) to serious (Proof, The Day They Shot John Lennon) to downright scary (Scotland Road), and has also worked at other local theaters for 15 years. "This play," she says, "will entertain and raise questions about the effect on ordinary people of national security issues, but also matters of personal loyalty, friendship and betrayal."

Hash House A Go Go will transition to a singular all day and all night brunch menu featuring its twisted take on farm food that will be served at the restaurant from open to close each day starting on Monday, December 23.

Artistic Director Les Waters and Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein have announced that Actors Theatre continues its 50th Anniversary Season with Thornton Wilder's Our Town. Widely regarded as one of the finest plays ever written by an American, Our Town will be directed by Obie-award winning director Les Waters. The production, part of the Brown-Forman Series, will begin previews on January 21, open on January 23 and run through February 9, 2014.

ABC and ESPN will combine to present all five NBA Christmas Day Games on Wednesday, Dec. 25. The blockbuster schedule is highlighted by ABC's first two NBA broadcasts of the season - the Oklahoma City Thunder and Kevin Durant visiting the New York Knicks and Carmelo Anthony at 2:30 p.m. ET, followed by the Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant hosting the two-time NBA Champion Miami Heat and reigning NBA MVP LeBron James at 5 p.m.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts welcomes the return of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo March 7 - 9, 2014 under the Presidency of H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover. The company will perform the American premiere of LAC, a new and brilliantly re-imagined telling of the Swan Lake story by Jean- Christophe Maillot, the company's choreographer and director.
