There are some productions of Shakespeare which need all the flashy costumes and sets and transplanting to non-traditional times and places in order to make the show shine. And then there are productions like the outstanding production of "The Winter's Tale" currently being offered from Seattle Shakespeare Company where they've assembled such a talented cast and crew, innately fluent with the meaning of the show, who only require a few chairs and platforms and where the flash would just get in the way. It's those shows that remind us why we love theater when a group of actors can mesmerize us with their words.

There are some productions where you hear the description and think to yourself, 'this is either going to be amazing, or a complete dumpster fire.' Jean-Claude Grumberg's The Workroom is a stunning portrait of two male and six female laborers surviving in Paris after World War II. This challenging play presents the PATP students with an opportunity to broaden their dramatic acting skills as they relay the emotional story of eight survivors desperately trying to sew together the fragments of their severed post-war lives.

Poe's tortured psyche is resurrected among the ruins of a fallen house where mysterious spirits bedevil the dead and it's always a midnight dreary. Gothic designs, haunting music, and shadowy figures breathe life into Poe's tapestry of terror, weaving his classics The Raven, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Bells, The Black Cat, and The Cask of Amontillado with his lesser known works, Berenice, The Oval Portrait, M.S. Found in a Bottle, and Lenore.
