Rubicon Theatre's U.S. Debut of THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE Opens Tonight

Rubicon Theatre Company's 2015-2016 season continues with the American premiere of THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE by Jethro Compton. Adapted from the short story by Dorothy M. Johnson that also inspired the legendary John Ford 1962 film, THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE is a classic tale of love, honor, ambition and revenge set against the backdrop of the American West.

THE SECRET ANNEX to Bring 'What If' Story to The Segal Centre This Winter

The Segal Centre presents THE SECRET ANNEX by Alix Sobler, directed by Marcia Kash. A bold exploration of historical truth and a touching narrative of what might have been, THE SECRET ANNEX makes its Montreal premiere on the Segal stage for three weeks only, January 31 through February 21. This production is being produced with the support of the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre.

Canadian Rep Theatre to Stage ARMSTRONG'S WAR

The run continues for the Toronto premiere of Colleen Murphy's Armstrong's War, the second production in Canadian Rep Theatre's 2015 Season, and runs till December 6 at The Citadel (Parliament & Dundas).  Directed by Artistic Director Ken Gass, this emotionally powerful two-hander stars Paolo Santalucia (The Dybbuk; Of Human Bondage -Soulpepper) as Corporal Michael Armstrong and Alex McCulloch, making her professional debut as Halley Armstrong. 

BWW Review: SEMINAR is Snappy, Sassy, and Smart

Theresa Rebeck's ambitious comedy, SEMINAR tells the story of four young writers who learn that sometimes the truth hurts after they hire Leonard, a famous novelist to mentor them for a 10-week master class. Rebeck is best known as the creator of the beloved television series Smash, and previous theatre works that include Dead Accounts and Mauritius.

This summer, Blyth audiences have the chance to see one of Canada's most beloved plays of all time: Mary's Wedding by Stephen Massicotte. Two time winner of the Betty Mitchell Award, and recipient of the 2000 Alberta Playwriting Competition, Mary's Wedding has been seen and celebrated all over the English speaking world in nearly a hundred productions... but never before in Blyth. Directed by Gil Garratt, Blyth's Artistic Director, Mary's Wedding stars Sophia Walker as Mary and Eli Ham as Charlie and plays in Blyth Memorial Hall from tonight, August 5 to September 12.

The 36th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards for the 2014/2015 season were handed out in a star-studded ceremony in Toronto on the evening of Monday, June 22 at Harbourfront Centre's WestJet Stage, hosted by the hilarious Gavin Crawford, whose eight seasons on CBC-TV's This Hour Has 22 Minutes earned him numerous accolades and who recently won an ACTRA Award for his leading role in the film Two 4 One.

Nikki M. James & More Lead LCT3's New Musical PRELUDES, Opening Tonight

Eisa Davis, Gabriel Ebert, Nikki M. James, Joseph Keckler, Chris Sarandon, and Or Matias, on piano, lead LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater production of PRELUDES, a new musical by Dave Malloy, inspired by the music of Sergei Rachmaninov, developed with and directed by Rachel Chavkin. PRELUDES, a world premiere and the first musical to be produced by LCT3 in the Claire Tow Theater, began performances on May 23 and opens tonight, June 15, running through Sunday, July 19 at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65th Street).

ONCE, THE WILD PARTY & More Score 2015 Dora Awards Nominations

At a press conference held June 1 in the lobby of the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 236 nominations for 212 eligible productions for the 36th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, which honour excellence in the performing arts in Toronto.
