The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 18 categories and one special award for the 2014 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00pm EST, and hosted by acclaimed husband and wife actors and comedians, Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman. This year's event will once again benefit The Actors Fund.
The Theatre Centre today announced that Managing Director, Roxanne Duncan, has accepted a new role with Vancouver's PuSh International Performing Arts Festival. For over three years Duncan has worked closely with Franco Boni, General & Artistic Director to execute the organization's largest and most ambitious project to date - the $6.2 million transformation of an iconic heritage building into a live arts hub and incubator, and a permanent home for the company.
The Tampa Museum of Art and Creative Loafing have announced Gasp!, a collaboration that brings a new festival to Tampa's March-long celebration of the arts. Gasp! will be a smorgasbord of theater, dance, video, poetry, improv and more by emerging and accomplished artists, performing in and around the Museum today, March 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. The Museum's current exhibition, Graphicstudio: Uncommon Practice at USF will be open exclusively for Gasp! attendees the night of the festival.
Actor Bruce Davison certainly needs no introduction. He has starred on stage, screen and television in a multitude of complex roles over the last almost 50 years. He is most remembered for his early film Willard in the 60s and his stunning Oscar-nominated role in Longtime Companion from the early 90s. Davison is currently onstage in Noel Coward's A Song at Twilight at the Pasadena Playhouse, co-starring Sharon Lawrence and Roxanne Hart. Producers and writing partners Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer have signed on to Syfy's new supernatural dramaDominion as Executive Producers and to be co-Showrunners along with Executive Producer Vaun Wilmott, the channel announced today. The series is from Universal Cable Productions and Bold Films, and is slated to premiere on Syfy in June of this year.
