Welcome to Sevilla and a night of wondrous flamenco dance and music. The evening begins with Sevillanas, a traditional dance from Sevilla, and continues through more sophisticated forms of flamenco, with solos from both dancers and musicians, filling the room with the rhythm of palmas and the spirit of jaleo.

Students from 44 Kansas City area high schools, who performed in 48 musical productions during the 2008-09 school year, sang and danced their way into the spotlight at Starlight Theatre tonight. During Starlight's seventh annual Blue Star Awards ceremony, their theatrical talents and achievements were cheered by more than 2,000 parents, friends, teachers and theatre fans attending the free public event.
Starlight Theatre employees and volunteers surprised local high school theatre students and instructors today when they personally delivered and announced the nominations for the 2009 Blue Star Awards program.
Academy Award-nominated director Gus Van Sant's Milk, starring Academy Award winner Sean Penn as gay rights icon Harvey Milk, had its world premiere at San Francisco's historic Castro Theatre (at 429 Castro Street) tonight. The evening benefited multiple charities supporting LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) youth. Dinner and dancing followed at City Hall.
Distracted, a world premiere play by Lisa Loomer, opened Sunday afternoon at the Mark Taper Forum in downtown Los Angeles.
