Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director Tim Sanford, Managing Director Leslie Marcus) today announces that its 2019 Spring Gala will honor the beloved and prolific actress Lois Smith, a two-time Tony Award nominee whose six-decade career in theater, film, and television has included memorable performances in numerous Playwrights Horizons productions. The event will convene Playwrights Horizons' diverse community of writers, artists, and supporters on Monday, May 6 at 583 Park Avenue.

Back by popular demand, THE BOOK OF MORMON, returns to Las Vegas for a limited engagement July 30 - August 4 at The Smith Center.  Single tickets will go on sale Friday, May 3 at 10am. THE BOOK OF MORMON, which is running for one week at the Providence Performing Arts Center until April 28th, follows two Mormon Missionaries as they attempt to preach the Mormon religion to the inhabitants of a remote Ugandan village. The earnest young men are challenged by the lack of interest of the locals, who are distracted by more pressing issues such as AIDS, famine and oppression from the village warlords. The play makes light of various Mormon beliefs and practices, but ultimately endorses the positive power of love and service, while at the same time being the raunchiest play I have ever seen, while at the same time being one of the most entertaining shows I have ever seen. The script, lyrics, and music were written by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. Parker and Stone were best known for creating the animated comedy South Park. Lopez had co-written the music for the musical Avenue Q. These three have created a deeply offensive, great night of theater.

THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, is pleased to announce a lottery ticket policy for the National Tour, which begins April 30 at Shea's Buffalo Theatre and plays a limited one-week engagement through May 5. In Buffalo, the production will conduct a pre-show lottery at the box office, located at 646 Main St., making a limited number of tickets available at $25 apiece.

Just last month, the Broadway production of The Book of Mormon celebrated its 8th Anniversary at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre (230 West 49th Street), where it is the longest running show in the theatre's history, and has broken the house record over 50 times.
