Bernadette Peters to Perform with Pacific Symphony in Valentine's Day Concert, 2/12

Grammy-, Golden Globe- Drama Desk- and three-time Tony Award-winning actress and singer Bernadette Peters-known for her raw talent and ability to knock the socks off an audience with her glorious voice-joins Pacific Symphony just in time for Valentine's Day weekend! The ageless Peters, who boasts a decades-long successful career on the Broadway, film and television stage, recently starred in the critically acclaimed Broadway production of "Follies" after a highly successful run at the Kennedy Center, and can be seen in the Golden-Globe winning TV series, "Mozart in the Jungle." Recent hit performances (backed by orchestras) have included Peters turning up the heat for Peggy Lee's "Fever"; Rodgers and Hammerstein's "There is Nothin' Like a Dame" (from "South Pacific"); "Children Will Listen" and "No One is Alone" (from "Into the Woods"); "In Buddy's Eyes" and "Losing My Mind" (from her turn as Sally Durant Plummer in the 2011 revival of "Follies"); and "Let Me Entertain You" (from the Grammy Award-winning Broadway cast album "Gypsy"), among many, many others.

Stage Door Theatre's GYPSY Opens This Week

Gypsy has been called "the greatest of all American musicals" (Ben Brantley, The New York Times), "arguably, in thematic terms, the quintessential American musical," (The Hollywood Reporter), and "Broadway's own brassy, unlikely answer to King Lear". (Frank Rich, The New York Times).  Stage Door Theatre's production of Gypsy, directed by the company's newly appointed artistic director Dan Kelley, and starring 2014 Carbonell Award-winner (Best Actress/Musical) Ann Marie Olson, will open on November 20th, and run through January 3rd.

BWW Review: PRINCE OF BROADWAY Conquers Audiences in Tokyo and Beyond

Billed as 'a new musical', the world premiere of Prince of Broadway at Tokyu Theatre Orb in Tokyo salutes legendary Broadway producer/director, Harold Prince. Co-directed by Prince himself and Susan Stroman (who also choreographs), the evening celebrates an illustrious career spanning over six decades from the 1950s up to the present day, during which time Hal Prince has produced and/or directed more than 30 Broadway shows, winning a record 21 Tony Awards along the way.

Perseverance Theatre to Stage Sondheim's SWEENEY TODD

Perseverance Theatre (PT) presents Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Benjamin Barker returns to London bent on revenge after serving time for a crime he did not commit.  Armed with a sharp, straight razor, he sets up shop as one of the finest barbers in the city, and calls himself Sweeney Todd.  When he meets Mrs. Lovett, a local pie maker who will do anything for him, Todd's plan for vengeance becomes a savory pie filling, and the blood starts flowing.  With a brilliant score and unforgettable characters, this Tony Award-winning musical is one tasty piece of theatre.

In 1959 Ethel Merman, the prominent musical theatre actress of her time, and David Merrick were searching for their next project. After reading an excerpt from the memoir by Gypsy Rose Lee, Merrick felt they had said project and GYPSY was born.

Centre Stage for Youth Changes Audition Time for GYPSY

Due to an unexpected emergency with the director, auditions for GYPSY for youth ages thirteen and below have been changed to 4:00pm instead of the previously announced 2:00pm on Sunday, August 30th.
