MULTISTAGES has announced the new musical by award-winning Anita Velez-Mitchell, platinum-winning composers Dean Landon and Anika Paris, TEMPLE OF THE SOULS, with musical direction by Bruce Baumer and directed by Artistic Director Lorca Peress. TEMPLE OF THE SOULS will play a limited engagement at Theater for the New City - Johnson Theater (155 First Avenue, btw 9th/10th, NYC). Performances begin Tuesday, September 16 and continue through Sunday, September 28. Opening Night is Thursday, September 18 (8 p.m.).
With Sexy Laundry opening tonight, the entire cast roster for the theatre's biggest season is almost complete. Nearly 300 Minnesota artists - including actors, directors, designers and technical operators - will mount 18 productions on two stages. The season lineup confirms Park Square's commitment to the work of women writers like Amy Herzog, Michele Riml and Alice Walker. The casting emphasizes Park Square as a home for local artists of color, from returning favorites like James A. Williams, T. 'Boxeo Telemundo Ford' kicked-off its 2014 summer season with the fight between Jonathan 'Pitbull' Vidal of Puerto Rico and Mexico's Juan 'Loquito' Kantún which became the #1 boxing telecast on television for the week of July 14 and ranked as the program's most-watched telecast in history with 641,000 total viewers. The fight called by René Giraldo and Jessi Losada averaged 294,000 adults 18-49, the best delivery in the demo in six years. The momentum continued as the subsequent three telecasts of the season all ranked within the top five 'Boxeo Telemundo Ford' programs in history among total viewers, including 577,000 total viewers delivered on July 25 for the fight between David 'Severo' Carmona y Ricardo 'El Meserito' Rodríguez; 529,000 total viewers on August 1 for the fight between Daniel 'El Alacrán' Lozano and Antonio Tostado, and finally 516,000 total viewers on August 8 for the fight between Edgar 'Nene' Ortega and Daniel Rosario.
