Just last week, the winner of an Old Jews Telling Jokes contest for the Funniest (Fill in the Blank) got the chance to tell his joke on stage at the end of the show at the Westside Thetare. The National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) selected 62 finalists from tens of thousands of students to compete for the coveted Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor and Best Performance by an Actress, last week at the Minskoff Theatre. Hosted by the Tony Award-nominated stars of Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA, Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana, the fifth annual performance showcase featured dynamic ensemble and solo performances exclusively from the musical theater cannon. Sarah Lynn Marion, from Fullerton, CA and Taylor Varga, from Newtown, CT took home the big awards for the evening and BroadwayWorld was on the scene for all of the festivities. Just last week, TKTS in Times Square, the same-day discount theatre outlet for Broadway and Off Broadway shows celebrated 40 years in Times Square. Beginning at 11am, there was a special celebration in honor of TKTS' 40th Anniversary behind the TKTS Booth on Broadway and 47th Street. On Tony Sunday, June 9th, BroadwayWorld's own Randy Rainbow will host back-to-back events celebrating the Tony Awards right in the heart of Manhattan's Theatre District.

The American Theatre Wing's 67th Annual Tony Awards will be simulcast live in Times Square on Sunday, June 9th. The outdoor celebration of Broadway is free and open to the public, right in the heart of New York City's Theatre District.

The contestants for the seventh annual Broadway Beauty Pageant included Callan Bergmann (Silence! The Musical), Julius C. Carter (SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark), Yurel Echezarreta (Matilda), Matthew Goodrich(The Nance), Orion Griffiths (Pippin), and Paul HeeSang Miller (Mamma Mia!). Four-time Tony nominated and Drama Desk Award-winning actress Tovah Feldshuhhosted the event which took place last month at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place).
