ActorsNET concludes its 21st season with a milestone musical - The Threepenny Opera. Conceived as "an opera for beggars," the "play with music" was adapted by Marc Blitzstein into English from the original production in German - music by Kurt Weill and book and lyrics by Bertolt Brecht.

Barrel of Monkeys celebrates its 20th anniversary of arts education in Chicago Public Schools with a special one-night-only event: KIDS WRITE IT: 20 YEARS OF INTERGENERATIONAL STORYTELLING, featuring student-written stories from each of its 20 years, performed by the company's talented team of actor-educators, directed by Artistic Director Joseph Schupbach and co-directed by Co-Founder/Former Artistic Director Halena Kays. KIDS WRITE IT will be held on Thursday, July 27 at 7:30 pm at The Athenaeum Theatre Main Stage, 2936 N. Southport Ave. in Chicago. City Lit Theatre Artistic Director Terry McCabe has announced the cast for the company's season finale, the British comedy London Assurance. First produced in London in 1841 at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden, and shortly thereafter in New York City, London Assurance is considered a transitional play between the 18th century comedies of Richard Brinsley Sheridan and Oliver Goldsmith and the late 19th Century plays of Oscar Wilde. It has been one of Great Britain's most popular comedies of the standard classical repertoire and in recent decades has been performed by some of Britain's leading actors.
INDIAN PRINCESS 2017 Season Kicks Off 6/14 on Webster Lake

The Indian Princess, a modern-day replica of the passenger riverboats that traveled the Mississippi River in the late 19th century, kicks off its third season on Webster Lake with two Mother's Day Cruises this Sunday, May 14th. Leaving from the concert venue Indian Ranch in Webster, MA, the boat will offer lake tours and specialty cruises from May into October.

Whether it's seeing Matt Logan as King Arthur galumphing around onstage, as if astride a horse with Garris Wimmer not far behind providing the necessary sound effects with two halves of one empty coconut shell, or watching Jake Speck, as a feckless wannabe Knight of the Round Table, crap his pants anytime he hears a threatening sound or encounters the menacing Black Knight (or anyone else who might say 'boo' to the goose who is Sir Robin), or any other manner of zany characters who find themselves right smack in the middle of the most ridiculous of situations - Monty Python's Spamalot, now in an altogether splendid production from Studio Tenn, will supply you with plenty of laughs and/or the fodder to keep you amusingly sated until the next time you need a good guffaw or two.
V&A Exhibition Road Quarter to Open in June with Week-Long Festival

The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) has announced REVEAL, a free, week-long public festival running from 30 June to 7 July 2017. Art and design commissions, performances, fashion, family activities and collaborations with neighbouring Albertopolis institutions will celebrate the opening of the V&A's Exhibition Road Quarter designed by the Stirling Prize-winning British architect Amanda Levete and her practice AL_A.
