BWW Reviews: THE THREEPENNY OPERA from Seattle Shakespeare Company

Seattle Shakespeare Company is currently presenting their first ever foray into musical theater with "The Threepenny Opera". A show that seasoned musical theater companies would have difficulty with; this typically Shakespearean company in their 20th year handles it with vision, humor and heart.

California Symphony Premieres Works by Cindy Cox, 3/6

California Symphony unveils a World Premiere by internationally-recognized composer Cindy Cox in its upcoming concert, to be helmed by guest conductor George Cleve. The new work by Cox is an orchestral piece for the entire symphony with extra timpani, entitled En espiral. The program also includes the Flute Concertino, op. 107, D major by French composer Cécile Chaminade, Concerto for Clarinet and Viola, op. 88, E minor by Max Bruch, and Antonín Dvo?ák's Symphony No. 7, op. 70, D minor. This concert will be performed 4:00 pm, Sunday, March 6, 2011 at The Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Center Drive, Walnut Creek. On Sunday, February 6 at 3 pm, Opera Exposures will offer a program entitled 'The Elizabeth Taylor Greenfield Story' in the Chapel of St. Bartholomew's Church. Born a slave in 1819 in Natchez, Mississippi, Elizabeth Taylor Greenfield would become known as 'The Black Swan,' the first African-American singer to gain recognition in the United States and Europe. She made her New York City debut in 1853 at Metropolitan Hall drawing an audience of over 4,000

'And Furthermore' was published by Weiderfeld & Nicolson and focuses on Dench's professional career as well as her 30-year marriage to actor Michael Williams who passed away in 2001 after succumbing to lung cancer. The book is set for release in the US in February 2011.
