Last night, November 14, Second Stage opened its much-anticipated production of Little Miss Sunshine. This new musical comedy is based on the film of the same name by Michael Arndt. It was adapted for the stage by Tony Award-winning team James Lapine, who wrote the book, and William Finn, who wrote the lyrics and music. Last night was Wicked's big night as the show celebrated its 10th Anniversary on Broadway with a special performance and party. The 15th season of Brand:NEW FallFestival of New Work, from October 23 - 27, will feature readings of six remarkably varied new works, including two plays by Aetna New Voices Fellows; a special appearance by Tony Award-winner Priscilla Lopez; a musical-comedy; and an adaptation of one of the most-produced contemporary plays in Europe today, according to Maxwell Williams, Hartford Stage's Associate Artistic Director, and Elizabeth Williamson, Senior Dramaturg and Director of New Play Development.

Lopez, who originated the role of 'Diana' in A Chorus Line, performed a one-woman show entitled Class Mothers '68 by Eric H. Weinberger at Luna Stage in 1999 at the company's first space in Montclair.
The first feature from writer/director Nicole Gomez Fisher, SLEEPING WITH THE FISHES is a comedy which captures one girl's journey of self-discovery and the dynamics of her zany family. With its fair share of 'ay dios mio' and 'oy vey' moments, the film comes to life with colorful characters and one-liners that can only be found in a Latino Jewish home in Brooklyn.
