Last night, November 14, Second Stage opened its much-anticipated production of Little Miss Sunshine. This new musical comedy is based on the film of the same name by Michael Arndt. It was adapted for the stage by Tony Award-winning team James Lapine, who wrote the book, and William Finn, who wrote the lyrics and music. Hartford Stage Reveals 2013 Brand: NEW Festival of New Work Slate

The 15th season of Brand:NEW FallFestival of New Work, from October 23 - 27, will feature readings of six remarkably varied new works, including two plays by Aetna New Voices Fellows; a special appearance by Tony Award-winner Priscilla Lopez; a musical-comedy; and an adaptation of one of the most-produced contemporary plays in Europe today, according to Maxwell Williams, Hartford Stage's Associate Artistic Director, and Elizabeth Williamson, Senior Dramaturg and Director of New Play Development.

Luna Stage's 20th Anniversary Celebration was a living history of the company's work featuring performances by Tony-Award winner Priscilla Lopez, star of television, film and stage Frankie Faison, and many others who have graced the stages of Luna during the company's 20-year history. All paid humorous and heartfelt tribute to founder Jane Mandel, who is stepping down as Artistic Director after this season.

Tony and Obie Award winning performer Priscilla Lopez will perform at the company's 20th Anniversary celebration tonight, June 6th. Lopez, who originated the role of 'Diana' in A Chorus Line, performed a one-woman show entitled Class Mothers '68 by Eric H. Weinberger at Luna Stage in 1999 at the company's first space in Montclair.

With its fair share of 'ay dios mio' and 'oy vey' moments, the film comes to life with colorful characters and one-liners that can only be found in a Latino Jewish home in Brooklyn.

This compelling tale of a 1960s Puerto Rican family dreaming and dancing its way toward show business will be helmed by director Giovanna Sardelli. SOMEWHERE plays now through February 10, 2013 (press opening January 19) at TheatreWorks at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.
