THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA to Play Orpheum Theatre, 12/13-1/5

The spectacular new production of Cameron Mackintosh and Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA will make its Twin Cities' premiere December 13, 2013 through January 5, 2014 at Hennepin Theatre Trust's Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis. With newly re-invented staging and stunning scenic design, this new version of PHANTOM has been an enormous success since its U.K. unveiling in March 2012.

Jerry Herman Awards Seek High Schools for Pantages Ceremony, Set for June 1, 2014

The Nederlander Organization and Hollywood Pantages have extended an invitation to high schools in the greater L.A. area to participate in the 3rd Annual JERRY HERMAN AWARDS to be held Sunday June 1, 2014 at Hollywood Pantages in Los Angeles. Tickets for this awards celebration will go on sale to the general public on Monday March 31st at 10am PT. Tickets will be just $20.

Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond to Be Honored with 2013 Fred Ebb Award, 12/2

The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell Bernard, Trustee) in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present the ninth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond. The award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, will be presented by Joel Grey on Monday, December 2nd from 6-8pm at a by-invitation-only ceremony in the Penthouse Lounge of The American Airlines Theater.

Pittsburgh CLO Academy Students to Perform INTO THE WOODS, 11/16

Pittsburgh CLO Academy has announced that its students will perform Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods at the New Hazlett Theater on November 16 at 2:00 & 7:00pm. The cast members are all enrolled in the school's Musical Theater Production class and are being directed by Pittsburgh CLO Academy faculty members Justin Fortunato, Kiesha Lalama, and Bob Neumeyer.

JUDGE JACKIE JUSTICE - A NEW MUSICAL COMEDY to Debut at CLO Cabaret Theater, 1/30

Pittsburgh CLO has announced that the world premiere of Judge Jackie Justice - A New Musical Comedy will debut at the CLO Cabaret Theater on January 30 and will run through April 27. CMU graduates Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond are writing the musical, commissioned for the CLO's Cabaret Theater with dramaturgy by Mary Jane Brennan. The show is conceived and will be directed by Pittsburgh CLO Executive Producer Van Kaplan with choreography by Kiesha Lalama and musical direction by Michael Moricz.

On Monday, October 29, Jim Caruso's Cast Party, Birdland's 'extreme' open mic, was proud to present a new monthly segment called MENTOR MONDAYS, which pairs up-and-coming singers and composers with established artists to create a featured performance for the historic Birdland stage. For the premiere segment, producer Trevor McQueen paired composer Eric Dietz, a recent Carnegie Mellon University graduate with one of the current stars of Big Fish, Kirsten Scott. Scott premiered a new Dietz composition called 'No Good,' with Matt Aument at the piano. Scroll down for photos from the concert!

This talented cast will feature Pittsburgh CLO veterans and an exciting group of newcomers, led by Pittsburgh's own Tom Atkins as Ebenezer Scrooge. Stage Version of AN AMERICAN IN PARIS to Premiere in Paris in 2014; Broadway Transfer Planned for 2015

The new musical, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, has targeted Broadway for the spring of 2015 following its world premiere in December, 2014 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. It will be directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, making his Broadway directing debut. Featuring music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin and a book by Tony and Pulitzer Prize nominee Craig Lucas, the creative team also includes Tony Award winners Bob Crowley (sets and costumes), Natasha Katz (lighting) and Scott Lehrer (sound) with a musical score adapted and supervised by Rob Fisher. Bartlett Sher is creative consultant. Based on the Academy Award winning film inspired by the 1928 orchestral composition by George Gershwin, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS brings this classic tale to Broadway for the first time.
