Philadelphia Orchestra Announces 2010-2011 Season

The Philadelphia Orchestra celebrates its 30-year musical partnership with Chief Conductor Charles Dutoit in the 2010-11 season. Highlights of Mr. Dutoit's nine subscription weeks with the Orchestra include the 2010-11 Opening Night with violinist Joshua Bell; the U.S. premiere of James MacMillan's Violin Concerto, co-commissioned by the Orchestra, with Vadim Repin; the world premiere of Jonathan Leshnoff's Flute Concerto with Principal Flute Jeffrey Khaner; and Berlioz's The Damnation of Faust with mezzo-soprano Susan Graham and tenor Paul Groves. Mr. Dutoit also leads the Orchestra in three performances at New York's Carnegie Hall and a performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Sweden's Goteborg Ballet Makes American Debut at Jacob's Pillow, 8/18-8/22

Swedish contemporary dance company, The Göteborg Ballet, makes its American debut at Jacob's Pillow August 18-22. The company will perform a full-length production, 3xBoléro; three diverse works each inspired in a different way by Maurice Ravel's classic score, 'Boléro.' The works that comprise 3xBoléro showcase twenty classically-trained dancers from this leading Nordic company and three leading European choreographers. While Ravel's score provides the artistic impetus to 3xBoléro, the pieces utilize a unique spectrum of composers and dance vocabularies, in musical styles ranging from minimalist electronica through full scale orchestral recordings.

La Jolla Playhouse Presents Dostoevsky's NOTES FROM UNDERGROUND 9/17-10/17

La Jolla Playhouse presents the Yale Repertory Theatre production of Dostoevsky's Notes from Underground, adapted by Robert Woodruff and Bill Camp, based on a translation by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky, directed by Robert Woodruff, running in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre September 17 - October 17 (media night: Friday, Sept 24 at 8:00 pm).

Rick Snyder Directs OLEANNA And SPEED-THE-PLOW At ATC

American Theater Company (ATC) opens its 26th season with David Mamet's Oleanna and Speed-the-Plow in repertory for the first time ever. The productions are directed by Steppenwolf ensemble member Rick Snyder and will run at American Theater Company, 1909 W Byron St, Chicago. Press opening for Speed-the-Plow and Oleanna is Monday, September 20 at 6:00PM and 9:00PM, respectively.

The MET Musuem's Picasso Exhibition Draws 700,000 Visitors in 17 Weeks

The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced today that the landmark exhibition Picasso in The Metropolitan Museum of Art drew 703,256 visitors during its 17-week presentation at the Museum ending Sunday-making it the most highly attended show since 2001.

Ruskin Group Theatre Presents ALL MY SONS, 8/14

A moral conflict resurfaces in the Tony Award winning play, where crimes from the past threaten the future of two seemingly typical families. This classic reveals the lethal consequences of deceit and greed. All My Sons opened Aug. 14 and runs until Oct. 2 at the Ruskin Group Theatre.

New York: TV's Geraldine Librandi (Patty Leotardo in 'The Sopranos') and Reiko Aylesworth ('24' and 'DAMAGES') will lead the cast of the edgy and poignant new play LOST AND FOUND written by John Pollono, directed by Andrew Block, as part of the 2010 New York International Fringe Festival. LOST AND FOUND will begin performances on August 16 - 27 at NYC's Cherry Pit Theatre (155 Bank Street).
