Delaware Theatre Company will present Crowns, April 11 - 29, 2012. In the show, A young woman who moves down South to live with her aunt is given a lesson in 'hat-titude' in this toe-tapping musical. From feathered hats to flowered hats, pillboxes to turbans, to hats for work and hats for church, there is a hat for every occassion, and a cultural and historical significance to them as well as 'Mother Shaw' and her 'hat queens' share in their stories. This soul-stirring musical demonstrates the handing down of culture from one generation to the next and celebrates the refuge, equality and healing that occurs in this place of spirituality.
When Performance Network Theatre decided to engage in two co-productions for their 30th Anniversary season, an opportunity arose to revive their second stage offerings. With both "God of Carnage" and the upcoming "Dead Man's Shoes" being rehearsed off-site, Performance Network's black box rehearsal hall was wide open for use by a neighboring company, The Penny Seats, and the first show of their second season, Jeffrey Hatcher's "What Corbin Knew." Performances will begin Feb 28 and run through March 14, 2012 at Performance Network.

Luna Negra Dance Theater continues its season this spring with a World Premiere by Artistic Director Gustavo Ramirez Sansano titled CARMEN.maquia, a Picasso-inspired, contemporary take on the famous, fiery and flirtatious Spanish gypsy, Carmen. This work marks Luna Negra's first-ever full evening-length production and is a creative collaboration between three prize-winning artists: choreographer Sansano, Spanish fashion designer David Delfin and set designer Luis Crespo. Luna Negra presents CARMEN.maquia in one performance only at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph Drive, Saturday, March 24 at 8 pm.
The Sundance Institute Theatre Program has begun the 2012 Playwrights Retreat at Ucross Foundation. The 13th annual writing colony at the 20,000-acre working cattle ranch outside of Sheridan, Wyo. takes place through February 24 and provides a supportive environment for artists to create new work and receive guidance and reactions to it at an early stage.
