FIFI HOWLS FROM HAPPINESS, a Documentary About a Gay Iranian Artist, Opens in NYC 8/8; in LA 8/15

Music Box Films is proud to present the US Theatrical release of FIFI HOWLS FROM HAPPINESS, the award-winning documentary film by Mitra Farahani. The film had its World premiere as the Official Selection at the 2013 Berlin International Film Festival and screened at numerous film festivals including New York, Telluride, and Seattle. FIFI HOWLS FROM HAPPINESS will open at the Lincoln Plaza in New York on August 8, and at Laemmle Theaters in Los Angeles on August 15. A national release will follow.

Gloucester Stage to Open Jack Neary's AULD LANG SYNE, 7/11

Gloucester Stage Company continues the 35th Anniversary Season on July 11 with the Boston Area Premiere of Jack Neary's newest work, Auld Lang Syne featuring GSC favorites and real life husband and wife Richard Snee and Paula Plum directed by Douglas Lockwood. The comedy thriller runs from July 11 through July 27.

Amber Tamblyn and Shawn Hatosy to Star in REASONS TO BE PRETTY at the Geffen; Cast Announced!

Nick Gehlfuss (Shameless, The Newsroom), Shawn Hatosy (Southland, Reckless), Amber Tamblyn (Joan of Arcadia, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) and Alicia Witt (Justified, 88 Minutes) are cast in the Geffen Playhouse production of Reasons to Be Pretty, nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play (2009). Helmed by Geffen Playhouse Artistic Director Randall Arney, Reasons to Be Pretty will be performed in the Gil Cates Theater July 29 to August 31 with an opening night of August 6.

By the time of her death, Rubinstein had risen from humble origins in small-town Jewish Poland to become a global icon-the head of a cosmetics empire extending across four continents. She was the first modern self-made woman magnate, an avatar of female entrepreneurship, and a tastemaker in the worlds of art, fashion, and design.

Complete Cast and Creative Team Announced for the NYMF's COMING OF AGE, 7/7-13

Coming of Age, a theatrical song cycle - a collection of short stories about growing up - will have its New York premiere this summer as an Official Selection of the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) celebrating its 11th Anniversary Season. With a book, music and lyrics by Jon Provan, Coming of Age will be presented at Ford Foundation Studio Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Aves.). Directed by Ryan Pifher, performances will begin on July 7th and continue through July 13th.

The company is proud to announce that the 8pm performance today, June 14 will feature ASL interpretation by sign language interpreters Sarah Brandenburg and Craig Fogel.

La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its upcoming Without Walls (WoW) production of El Henry, adapted from Shakespeare's Henry IV, Part One by Culture Clash's Herbert Siguenza, directed by San Diego REPertory Theatre Artistic Director Sam Woodhouse. Presented in association with San Diego REP, El Henry will run June 14 - 29 (press opening: Friday, June 20 at 7:30pm) at SILO, in the vibrant new East Village neighborhood of Makers Quarter.

La Jolla Playhouse's Next 'Without Walls' Production Is EL HENRY, Running 6/14-29

Following its hugely successful Without Walls (WoW) Festival last October, La Jolla Playhouse announces the latest production in its acclaimed site-based theatre series: El Henry, written by and starring Culture Clash's Herbert Siguenza, directed by San Diego REPertory Theatre Artistic Director Sam Woodhouse. Presented in association with San Diego REP, the show will run June 14 - 29 at SILO in downtown San Diego's Makers Quarter. Performances run Tuesday through Sunday at 7:30pm.

OSF's Allen Elizabethan Theatre Opens Today

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival opens its outdoor theatre the weekend of June 13-15 with two Shakespeare productions, Richard III, directed by James Bundy, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona, directed by Sarah Rasmussen. Also opening is Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's musical Into the Woods, directed by Amanda Dehnert. The shows will close the weekend of October 10-12.

THE SUNSHINE BOYS to Run 6/19-29 at CT Rep

THE SUNSHINE BOYS by Neil Simon, the second show of its three-show Summer Nutmeg Summer Series at Connecticut Repertory Theatre is onstage June 19-29 in the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theater, Storrs. The Neil Simon penned comedy is led by Broadway and Television veterans Jerry Adler as Willie Clark and Richard Kline as Al Lewis.

Jewish Museum & Bang on a Can Form New Partnership

The Jewish Museum and Bang on a Can are launching a new partnership to produce a series of dynamic musical performances at the Museum from June 2014 to May 2015. Inspired by the Jewish Museum's diverse slate of exhibitions, the five programs will take place throughout the year across the Museum at Fifth Avenue and 92nd Street, Manhattan. The partnership kicks off with Asphalt Orchestra performing during the Museum Mile Festival on June 10, followed by a July 10 concert featuring works by Minimalist composers such as Philip Glass and Louis Andriessen in conjunction with Other Primary Structures, an exhibition of global sculpture from the 1960s.
