When the Public Theatre announced HAMILTON's third extension earlier this month, rumors fizzled that the show would in fact transfer to Broadway in time for the 2015 Tony Awards eligibility cut off. Just today, however, the Public announced a special event for tomorrow afternoon, at which the 'HAMILTON creative team, producers and company along with the Public Theater staff at a special gathering to celebrate this new musical.' Following yesterday's reports that Lin-Manuel Miranda's new musical might be making the move to Broadway before the Tonys cut-off this season, The Public Theater has announced a third extension today for the world premiere production.
According to the New York Post, Lin-Manuel Miranda's new musical Hamilton, currently in an extended run through April 5 at the Public Theater, might cut its off-Broadway stay short in order to open on Broadway before April 23rd, the Tony Awards cutoff date.
