Louise Lecavalier Set for Jacob's Pillow, 7/137/16

Iconic Canadian contemporary dancer Louise Lecavalier performs a program of physical, compelling works during a limited engagement at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival July13-16. This is a rare opportunity for audiences to see Lecavalier perform in the United States; the company will give four performances. In the U.S. premiere of the duet Children, choreographed by DV8 Physical Theatre's Nigel Charnock, Lecavalier performs with Patrick Lamothe, opening a window into a relationship at its breaking point. In A Few Minutes of Lock, also seen in its U.S. premiere, Lecavalier powers through the signature athletic choreography of Édouard Lock to a soundscape of Iggy Pop music.

NY Philharmonic to Screen WEST SIDE STORY Film; Score Played Live

The New York Philharmonic will screen the multi-Academy Award-winning film West Side Story, with Leonard Bernstein's complete score performed live by the Orchestra, led by Academy Award-nominated film composer/conductor David Newman in his Philharmonic debut, Wednesday and Thursday, September 7 and 8, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. A new sound technology, developed by Paris-based Audionamix and utilized by Chace Audio by Deluxe, has isolated the dialogue and the vocal tracks, allowing the Orchestra to accompany the film in real time.

MoMA Presents Carlito Carvalhosa: Sum of Days 8/24-11/14

The Museum of Modern Art presents Carlito Carvalhosa: Sum of Days, a large-scale environmental and participatory sound installation that will be on view in MoMA's Donald B. and Catherine C. Marron Atrium, from August 24 to November 14, 2011.
