The Bang on a Can All-Stars have recorded their first studio album in five years, for release on Bang on a Can's sister-label Cantaloupe Music in 2012.

Musical America, now in its third century as the indispensable resource for the performing arts, today announced the winners of the annual Musical America Awards, recognizing artistic excellence and achievement in the arts.

Clarinetist David Krakauer along with musical pioneer cellist Matt Haimovitz, will present Akoka: The End of Time featuring beat architect Socalled, with violinist Maria Bachmann and pianist Geoffrey Burleson, at 9pm on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street, NYC).

Park Avenue Armory has announced an additional concert in the line-up for its second Tune-In Music Festival, featuring four artists whose critical thinking and output have influenced and been influenced by Philip Glass and whose eclectic offerings represent a wide range of musical styles and genres. The Armory's Tune-In Music Festival will be held February 23-26, 2012, featuring and co-curated by the iconic composer Philip Glass on the occasion of his 75th birthday. The Armory's soaring 55,000-square-foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall, with its cathedral-like acoustics and informal character, will set the scene for a concert environment that is at once both immersive and intimate, erasing the confines and eliminating the formalities of traditional concert halls.

The New York Times will hold its 11th annual Arts & Leisure Weekend on Jan. 5 to 8, 2012. The Times's signature event is a four-day celebration of the arts featuring TimesTalks interviews between New York Times journalists and celebrated guests from film, media, music, television and theater.

HEINER MÜLLER'S MACBETH AFTER SHAKESPEARE will make its North American premiere at La MaMa.

The Enchanted Island, a world premiere work that combines Baroque music with a new, English-language libretto featuring characters from Shakespeare's The Tempest and A Midsummer Night's Dream, will premiere at the Metropolitan Opera on December 31, 2011.

This November, in Juilliard School's Peter Jay Sharp Theater, Anne Manson will conduct the U.S. premiere of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies' Kommilitonen! (Young Blood!) - an opera co-commissioned by Juilliard and the Royal Academy of Music - which received its world premiere in London this past March to remarkable critical acclaim. The production opens Juilliard's 2011-12 Vocal Arts season on Wednesday, November 16 at 8 PM, with additional performances on Friday, November 18 at 8 PM and Sunday, November 20 at 2 PM. David Pountney, librettist of the opera, provides stage direction, sets and costumes are by Robert Innes Hopkins, and choreography is by Carolum Choa.

For its third New York season, director Anne Bogart and SITI Company celebrate the 70th birthday year of Robert Wilson with the revival of the Obie Award-winning one-man tour-de-force, Bob. Inspired by the creative life and times of the internationally acclaimed avant-garde theater director, Bob will run at New York Live Arts, January 19-29, 2012.

The final performance of Ping Chong's ANGELS OF SWEDENBORG -- his 1985 dance theatre piece being performed by La MaMa's Great Jones Repertory Company-- will be live-streamed on Sunday, November 13 starting at 2:30 p.m., it has been announced by La MaMa's Artistic Director Mia Yoo.

The Strand Theater Company continues their first annual Second Saturday Reading Series with Developmental Stages by Emily Hall and Sara Anne Simpkins, which will be performed November 12 at 2PM.
