Victory Gardens Theater announces casting for the World Premiere of The Gospel of Lovingkindness by Victory Gardens Ensemble Playwright Marcus Gardley, directed by Artistic Director Chay Yew. The cast includes Cheryl Lynn Bruce, Tosin Morohunfola, Ernest Perry, Jr. and Jacqueline Williams. The Gospel of Lovingkindness runs February 28 - March 30, 2014, with the press performance on March 7, 2014, at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue.

Strawdog Theatre Company and Interim Artistic Director Hank Boland have announced the third production in their 2013 - 2014 season, the world premiere of Philip Dawkins' Miss Marx: or The Involuntary Side Effect of Living directed by Megan Shuchman, Strawdog Theatre Company is located at 3829 N. Broadway Street. Preview performance tickets are $15 with performances Fridays, Feb. 14 and Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. There is a Board Preview performance, Saturday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m., with $50 tickets that include access to a post-performance reception. Opening/press night is Monday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. Industry night is Monday, March 3 at 7 p.m. The performance schedule is Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. Single Tickets are $28 and are currently on sale. Red Tape Theatre (RTT) continues their 10th Anniversary Season with the US premiere of hamlet is dead. no gravity by Ewald Palmetshofer, translated by Neil Blackadder and directed by Seth Bockley. The show will run January 27-February 22, 2014.

Victory Gardens Theater, the award-winning Chicago theater known for its hard-hitting, politically relevant new plays like Ameriville, Oedipus el Rey, and Mojada, is searching for Chicago gospel choirs to participate in the World Premiere of The Gospel of Lovingkindness by Victory Gardens Ensemble Playwright Marcus Gardley, directed by Artistic Director Chay Yew. Set in Bronzeville, the show examines the toll gun violence can take on individuals, families and a community. A new crop of local talent joins Goodman Theatre's artistic team for the 2013/2014 Season. The four Chicago-based writers named to the fourth season of the Playwrights Unit-a year-long residency program designed to support and develop new works-include Andrew Hinderaker, Gift Theatre ensemble member; Mickle Maher, cofounder of Theater Oobleck; Anne Garcia-Romero, a resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists; and Laura Schellhardt, who oversees undergraduate playwriting at Northwestern University. A partnership with Chicago Dramatists, the Playwrights Unit meets twice per month with members of the Goodman's artistic team to discuss their plays-in-progress and provide feedback for one another. The program includes readings of the playwrights' works-in-progress at Chicago Dramatists in early 2014, and culminates in summer 2014 with staged readings of their completed works at the Goodman. Playwrights Unit alumni include Greg Allen, Alice Austen, Ike Holter and Christopher Oscar Peña (2012/2013 Season); Philip Dawkins, Nambi E. Kelley, Elaine Romero and Martin Zimmerman (2011/2012 Season); and Seth Bockley, Lisa Dillman, Laura Jacqmin and Rohina Malik (2010/2011 Season).

Celebration Theatre has announced a benefit reading of A Kind of Kind, a world premiere play by Miles Brandman, starring two-time Emmy Award nominee Wendie Malick and Academy Award nominee Robert Forster on Monday, November 25 at 8pm at the Atwater Village Theatre in Los Angeles. Directed by Ovation Award-winner Michael Matthews, proceeds from the reading will go to support Celebration Theatre.

Five world premiere plays and three new adaptations seen first by Chicago audiences received Jeff nominations by the Jeff Awards Committee and are among the 166 nominations in 36 categories announced for Chicago Equity theatrical productions opened between August 1, 2012 and July 31, 2013.

The Hub Theatre would like to announce a date change for Failure: A Love Story, the Hub's second show of its 6th season. The new dates are now April 25th - May 18th, 2014. Press night will be April 25th at 8:00pm.
