In March, New Conservatory Theatre Center presents the latest acclaimed play by four-time Tony Award winner and frequent NCTC collaborator Terrence McNally, with the regional premiere of Mothers and Sons, directed by Arturo Catricala and starring Velina Brown and Andrew Nance. Generations collide when a woman pays a surprise visit to the New York apartment of her late son's partner, who is now married to another man and has a young son. As she revisits the past, she begins to see the life her son might have led. "A resonant elegy for a ravaged generation" (The New York Times) and "eloquent, exceptionally timely and intensely resonant" (Chicago Tribune), Mothers and Sons explores family and forgiveness in a changing society.

Jackalope's 8th season continues with the world premieres of Rolling, written by Calamity West, directed by Nate Silver, and Prowess, written by Ike Holter, directed by Marti Lyons, with the full casts and production teams announced below.

Actor/writer Jason Lott and writer Helen Murray Pafumi collaborated on writing Wonderful Life currently onstage at the Malibu Playhouse. I caught up with both of them to see how all of this got started and what they feel they have accomplished with their Christmas play. What motivated both of you to adapt It's a Wonderful Life? JL: Honestly, it was all Helen's idea. She wanted to do a one-person holiday show at her theatre, but wasn't finding the right script. She approached me about doing the show (whatever it might turn out to be) and mentioned that she was planning to adapt It's A Wonderful Life. I asked if she'd mind if I co-wrote it with her and she was gracious enough to say 'Yes.' You could make the argument that I only asked to co-write because I knew it would be easier to memorize that way, but that's only half-true (because, honestly, it is easier for me to memorize something I've written). The other side is that I only knew a little bit about It's A Wonderful Life. I knew it was an 'American classic' and I knew that I loved Jimmy Stewart's work in other movies, but the embarrassing fact is that I'd only seen bits and pieces over the years. I'd never watched the whole thing in one sitting. Once I did, though, I fell in love with the movie and absolutely wanted to help bring that story to the stage.

Victory Gardens Theater announces the next show of its 41st season, the World Premiere of Cocked by Sarah Gubbins, directed by Associate Artistic Producer Joanie Schultz. Cape Rep Theatre concludes its 30th Anniversary season with the Tony-winning Jerry Herman and Harvey Fierstein musical, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, tonight, November 5th through December 6th.

The award-winning VITAL THEATRE COMPANY is pleased to the extention of FLIGHT SCHOOL, THE MUSICAL, a new musical based on the book Flight School by Lita Judge, with a book by Cara Lustik, lyrics by Joshua H. Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, announces the World Premiere of CHARM by Philip Dawkins. Directed by BJ Jones, CHARM was developed through Northlight's Interplay Series and will be presented in Steppenwolf's Garage Theatre, 1624 N. Halsted, from tonight, October 14, through November 8, 2015.
