Ballet NY presents its 2012 Season, including the World Premiere of Trois Mouvements by Artistic Director Medhi Bahiriand the Company Premiere of emerging choreographerJohn-Mark Owen's Triptych, from August 9-11, 2012 at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, 405 West 55th Street, NYC (at Ninth Avenue). Performances: Thursday at 7:30pm, Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 2pm. Tickets are $26 ($16 for students and seniors) and are available at www.smarttix.com or by phone at 212-868-4444.

Justin Peck to Create First-Ever Works for New York City Ballet Company; Season Runs Now thru 7/21

New York City Ballet previously announced that 24-year-old corps de ballet member Justin Peck has been commissioned to create two new ballets for NYCB, his first-ever for the Company.

Ballet West has been awarded a Fellowship Initiative grant from the New York Choreographic Institute, an affiliate of New York City Ballet, to support the development of new choreography in a studio setting. The choreographer will be Christopher Ruud.

Nicholas Rodriguez, known to soap audiences as Nick Chavez on ABC's 'One Life to Live' for which he received a GLAAD Media Award, has joined the cast of 'LOST IN LOVE' the Air Supply musical for the sold-out staged reading on June 5 to benefit The Actors Fund. Rodriguez replaces Justin Matthew Sargent, who had a scheduling conflict.

New York City Ballet Spring Gala Features Natalie Portman, Two World Premiere Ballets Today, 5/10

New York City Ballet's 2012 Spring Gala tonight, May 10 will feature a one-time-only salute to France titled À La Francaise, and will feature two World Premiere ballets, one by NYCB's Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins to a score by the French composer Marc-Andre Dalbavie; and one by French-born choreographer and former NYCB Principal Dancer Benjamin Millepied to a commissioned score by Nico Muhly. The evening will also include a major revival of George Balanchine's Symphony in C, which was created for the Paris Opera Ballet in 1947 to a score by the French composer Georges Bizet.
