Nearly 2 Million Viewers Tune In To 8TH ANNUAL TV LAND AWARDS

TV Land scored record-breaking numbers for its eighth annual 'TV Land Awards' hosted by Tim Allen, attracting nearly 2 million total viewers for its Sunday, April 25 (9-10:30 p.m. ET/PT) telecast. The star-studded special, held on the historic Stage 15 on the Sony Lot in Culver City, was the highest-rated and most-watched TV Land Awards since 2004 among the network's key demos of: Adults 25-54, Adults 40-54, Women 25-54 and among total viewers. The network also witnessed double-digit ratings gains over last year's 'TV Land Awards' across all these demos.

Celebrities from television, film and music all came out tonight for the unforgettable taping of the eighth annual 'TV Land Awards' premiering on Sunday, April 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Appearances included Billy Crystal, Jay Leno, Betty White, Paula Abdul, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick, Bob Newhart, Ryan O'Neal and more. Honorees included the cast of 'Everybody Loves Raymond' (Impact Award), Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner (Legend Award), the cast of 'Bosom Buddies' including Tom Hanks (Anniversary Award), cast members from 'Glee' (Future Classic Award), 'Charlie's Angels' (Pop Culture Award), 'The Love Boat' (Fan Favorite Award) and legendary punk rock band Blondie (Icon Award.) The show was taped on Saturday, April 17th and was hosted by Tim Allen on the historic Stage 15 on the Sony Lot in Culver City.

The first round of Hollywood auditions on 'American Idol' brought the welcome addition of Ellen DeGeneres to the judging panel. Ellen replaced Paula Abdul, after Paula was not hired back for 'Idol's' ninth season. Ellen was a refreshing change to panel, being brutally honest to the contestants, as well as providing several amusing comments about the performances.

With Paula Abdul's departure and Simon Cowell's very recent announcement that he, too, is leaving the show, American Idol still was the most watched show of the night with 29.9 million viewers.

Despite the recent announcement that Simon Cowell would be spending his last season in the judges seat on this season's American Idol, and a noticeably absent Paula Abdul, the program came out of the box on top, being the #1 rated program for it's premiere on Tuesday, January 12. The night with 29.9 million viewers.

Another season of the hit reality TV show 'American Idol' kicked off its ninth season last night, bringing the familiar faces of Randy Jackson, Simon Cowell, and Kara DioGuardio as America's favorite judging panel back to the silver screen. The show that has brought talent such as Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken takes talent from across the country and lets America choose who will be the next 'Idol.' Now in its ninth season, 'American Idol' has been one of the biggest reality TV show hits of the decade and has taken the country by storm.
