A founding resident company of The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP) will perform music by Rossini and Gounod, premiere a new arrangement by New Jersey composer, Raphael Fusco and present the U.S. premiere of Stories for piano and orchestra by French-Lebanese pianist and rising-star composer Rami Khalife.

 On Sunday, December 18, 2016 at 4pm, the Chiara String Quartet(Rebecca Fischer and Hyeyung Julie Yoon, violins; Jonah Sirota, viola; Gregory Beaver, cello) will perform a concert presented by the Westchester Chamber Music Society at Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester (125 Westchester Avenue East). The Chiara's program will include Mendelssohn's String Quartet in D Major, Op. 44 No. 1; Britten's Divertimenti; and Beethoven's String Quartet No. 13 in B-flat Major with Grand Fugue, Op. 133.

Bergman, Chairman and CEO of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, today announced the selection of Paul Kasmin Gallery to represent its holdings of artworks by its founder, Lee Krasner (1908-1984). Established in 1985 through the generous bequest of Krasner, one of the leading Abstract Expressionist painters and the widow of Jackson Pollock, the Foundation is the successor to the estates of both artists.

A concert of music made by and for old friends, the program, titled Piano Quintets with Simone Dinnerstein,features the New York premiere of Jefferson Friedman's new piano quintet The Heart Wakes Into for the Chiara and pianist Simone Dinnerstein, paired with Brahms' Piano Quintet in F minor. The Chiara Quartet's residency will continue on Today, March 18, 2016 with Bartók and Frank and on May 6, 2016 with Death of the Maiden.

The Danish String Quartet has established a reputation for possessing an integrated sound, impeccable intonation and judicious balance.  With their technical and interpretive talents matched by an infectious joy for music-making and 'rampaging energy' (The New Yorker), the quartet has been acclaimed as one of the 'best quartets before the public today' (Washington Post).  Since making their debut in 2002 at the Copenhagen Festival, this group of musical friends has demonstrated a passion for Scandinavian composers, who they frequently incorporate into adventurous programs, while also proving skilled and profound performers of the classical masters. The ensemble's Meany Hall performance will be their first in Seattle.

Using materials derived from the Arabic systems of pitch and rhythm, maqam'at and iqa'at, each particular composition uses indeterminacy and improvisation to organize sound and time, thereby providing energetic and visceral motifs encompassing the full range of expression possible from a string quartet.
