BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON opened on Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 W. 45th Street) on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. A long-standing opening night tradition on the Great White Way, the fabled Gypsy Robe is bestowed upon a veteran Broadway chorus member for each opening production. In what has now become a theatrical ritual, originating on Broadway 60 years ago, BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON cast member Heath Calvert received the Gypsy Robe and BroadwayWorld was there for the celebration.

The Barrow Group Theatre Company presents its 16th Annual Celebrity Doodles Auction & Gala on Monday, May 10th, 2010. Each year celebrities donate their artwork, or doodles, that are auctioned off in this annual fundraiser, at which The Barrow Group also honors individuals for their service to the arts and TBG. This year's honorees include Jon Marans and David Diamond.

Last week on April 20, 2010, Actor's Equity's David Westphal hosted the famed Gypsy Robe Ceremony for company members of AMERICAN IDIOT at the St. James Theatre. A long-standing opening night tradition on the Great White Way, the fabled Gypsy Robe is bestowed upon a veteran Broadway chorus member for each opening production. In what has now become a theatrical ritual, originating on Broadway 60 years ago, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES chorus member Dale Hensley turned over the robe to AMERICAN IDIOT cast member Andrew Call. BroadwayWorld was there for the celebration.

To borrow the lyrics from 'The Best of Times' - the joy was contagious, the entourage outrageous, it was hot and hectic, effervescent and eclectic at LA CAGE AUX FOLLES when, on Sunday, April 18, 2010, the cast made its way to the stage for the traditional Gypsy Robe Ceremony just prior to the musical's official opening later that evening.

A long-standing opening night tradition on the Great White Way, the fabled Gypsy Robe is bestowed upon a veteran Broadway chorus member for each opening production. In what has now become a theatrical ritual, originating on Broadway 60 years ago, COME FLY AWAY chorus member Kristine Bendul turned over the robe to ADDAMS FAMILY cast member Jim Borstelmann. An overflow crowd of friends, colleagues, and fans packed the Actors Equity Audition Center this past Monday, March 16th, 2009 to pay tribute to the late Broadway actor/singer George Best Costacos. The memorial, right in the heart of Broadway, was a moving, magical tribute to a multitalented artist who passed away a few months ago at the age of 44 of complications from a brain tumor.

An overflow crowd of friends, colleagues, and fans packed the Actors Equity Audition Center this past Monday, May 16th, 2009 to pay tribute to the late Broadway actor/singer George Best Costacos. The memorial, right in the heart of Broadway, was a moving, magical tribute to a multitalented artist who passed away a few months ago at the age of 44 of complications from a brain tumor. His untimely death left a big void but George?s talent, passion and spirit filled the room as his friends and colleagues performed works they had collaborated on, as well as pieces dedicated specifically to him. Among these was Broadway cabaret legend Steve Ross, composer and pianist Seth Weinstein and singer Lynn Manuel. Noted actress/director Fotini Baxevani and novelist, author, screenwriter and Fulbright Scholar Gianni Scaraga, both from Greece, recited some of George?s poems and prose in Greek and in English. They were joined by actress Carina Gregorio. Video clips of George?s performances and life filled the screen and mesmerized those present.

Friends, colleagues, and fans will gather to honor the memory of the late actor and singer George Best Costacos on Monday, March 16, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Actors' Equity Audition Center, 165 West 46th Street, 2nd floor, New York, NY 10036. Steve Ross, Seth Weinstein and Lynn Manuel are among those who will commemorate the work of this gifted artist by performing some of George's best-known and beloved songs. The event is open to the public.
