Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW, under the leadership of Artistic Director, David Staller, presented George Bernard Shaw's 1895 comedy, Candida, yesterday, November 25, at Symphony Space's Leonard NimoyThalia Theatre (2895 Broadway at 95th St.). Directed by David Staller, Candida featured Tony Award nominees Judy Kuhn (Candida) and Douglas Sills (Morell), with Brandon J. Vukovic (a recent Brown/Trinity grad) as Marchbanks, Alison Cimmet (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) as Prossy, Bill Kux (The Trip to Bountiful) as Burgess, Jordan Coughtry (Shakespeare Theatre of NJ Our Town) as Lexy. The Clive Barnes Foundation has announced the nominees for the 2012 Clive Barnes Awards, a distinguished annual honor recognizing the work of young actors and dancers in New York City.

The musical "McGoldricks' Thread" sowed up three major awards at the closing ceremonies last night of the sixth Origin's 1st Irish Theatre Festival, held at Papillon Bistro & Bar, 22 East 54th Street. The crowd-pleasing show, brimming with Irish step dancing performed by a youth-dominated cast, won for Best Production, and Best Direction for Kira Simring. The production also was honored with the Festival's Special Jury Prize.

ORIGIN'S 1ST IRISH 2013 Announces Nominees for Awards Monday

Nominations for the top awards of Origin's 1st Irish 2013 are being announced today for an Awards Ceremony hosted by Papillon Bistro & Bar, 22 East 54th Street on Monday September 30 at 7pm. In all eight plays were seen in competition during the month-long festival which began on September 2. The sixth annual edition of 1st Irish, the first and only festival in the world dedicated to Irish playwrights, welcomed two productions from Ireland, and six from the U.S. by contemporary Irish playwrights from Belfast, Dublin, Boston and New York. A total of six were world premieres.

On Monday, December 10th at 2:30pm, with an audience of 300 in attendance, the winners of the 3rd annual Clive Barnes Awards will be announced. With Michael Reidel serving as host, the presenters this year include Frederic Franklin, CBE, Paloma Herrera, and Maya Johansen (Bernes).The Clive Barnes Foundation have previously announced the nominees for the 2012 Clive Barnes Awards, a distinguished annual honor recognizing the work of young actors and dancers in New York City. This years' nominees for theatre are Joaquina Kalukango for her performance in Signature Theatre Company's production of Katori Hall's Hurt Village, Derek Klena for his performance in Second Stage Theatre's production of Dogfight, directed by Joe Mantello, Rob McClure for his performance in Chaplin, now in performances at the Barrymore Theatre, and Stephen Tyrone Williams for his performance in Signature Theatre Company's production of Athol Fugard's My Children, My Africa. For dance, the nominees are Lauren Lovette (New York City Ballet), Steven Melendez (New York Theater Ballet), and Ashley Murphy (Dance Theater of Harlem).
