It is the purpose of THE CLEVELAND CRITICS CIRCLE AWARDS to recognize outstanding Cleveland area productions, performers, directors and others who were involved in those offerings during the 2012 year. Awards are considered for those theatres which the members review and the categories agreed upon by the members of the organization. NEXT FALL continues the Blank Canvas's streak of well conceived productions of challenging scripts. Though viewers may have to set aside their own individual beliefs in order to buy into the play's ending, this is an overall positive theatrical experience and very well worth seeing.
There is a new theatre in town…Blank Canvas. Founder Patrick Ciamacco explains that this is a professional theatre which pays designers and actors for their services. He states that the organization's staff is "dedicated to providing a positive working environment and want to show loyalty and investment in actors."
Shadowbox Live, America's largest resident theatre company, is gearing up to host some of the best sketch comedy troupes in the country. Next week, five troupes go head to head in competition at the 3rd annual Shadowbox Live Sketch Comedy Festival, showing at The Easton Town Center on July 19th and 20th!
Six adolescent outsiders learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. Cheer on this quirky yet charming cast of characters for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time. Gather your friends and show off your O-R-T-H-O-G-R-A-P-H-I-C abilities! A few lucky audience members will be selected at each performance to join the cast onstage to be a part of the show as a spelling bee contestant.

Beck Center presents the Cleveland premiere of Evil Dead: The Musical in the Studio Theater May 8 through June 14. Sam Raimi's cult classic 1980s films are brought to life in this campy show. Show times are 8:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3:00 p.m. Sundays.
