Work Light Productions launches the National Tour of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL tonight, September 29, in Owensboro, KY.

Like a comet that burns far too brightly to last, Janis Joplin exploded onto the music scene in 1967 and, almost overnight, became the queen of rock 'n' roll. The unmistakable voice, filled with raw emotion and tinged with Southern Comfort, made her a must-see headliner from Monterey to Woodstock. 50 years after the Summer of Love, McCarter audiences will rediscover the sights, sounds, and soul of an unforgettable era with A Night with Janis Joplin, October 10 29 in McCarter's Matthews Theatre.

Work Light Productions has announced the complete cast for the National Tour of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL.

2013's 'Motown, The Musical' opened Tuesday night for a week's run through August 27 at Starlight Theatre inside Swope Park to a responsive, handclapping, music-swaying, delighted audience. 'Motown' is what old films might call a biopic with music. It tells the story of 'Motown' founder and owner Berry Gordy Junior and his business and personal journey through popular music based in the black experience of mid-20th Century Detroit Michigan.

Motown The Musical, the Tony Award-nominated tribute to the musical greats of the 1960s and '70s, brings its signature sound and American dream story to Starlight Theatre for six performances August 22-27. The acclaimed musical follows the true life story of Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr. on his journey from featherweight boxer to heavyweight music mogul. The man who founded Motown records in Detroit in 1959 went on to launch the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and so many more.

Motown the Musical has just released 500,000 new tickets for sale, taking bookings for the hit West End production into 2019 when the show will celebrate its third year in London and Motown will celebrate sixty years since the record company was founded.

American Conservatory Theater's (A.C.T.) critically acclaimed production of A Night with Janis Joplin ends its six-week run this Sunday, July 16 following two extensions and resounding critical and audience response. While not particularly illuminating on the life of the singer, A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN (now extended to July 9) delivers powerful vocal performances from Kacee Clanton and a strong supporting cast including Sharon Brown.

The U.S. tour of Motown the Musical is lighting up the stage at Syracuse, New York's Landmark Theatre. The jukebox musical based on Berry Gordy's (book) autobiography To Be Loved: The Music, The Magic, The Memories of Motown features familiar music and lyrics from the legendary Motown catalog and focuses on the Motown greats like Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and many more. The cast under the direction of Charles Randolph-Wright has the energy, confidence, and amazing vocals to fully embody these legendary musicians.

The Secret Garden has book & lyrics by Marsha Norman, music by Lucy Simon, and is based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The production runs now through May 28, 2017 at the Stage Theatre at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. The DCPA Theatre Company announced today that due to popular demand, they have added an additional performance of The Secret Garden on Sunday, May 28 at 6:30 p.m. The performance will benefit the DCPA's student matinee program.
