California Musical Theatre announces the 2017 lineup for Sacramento Music Circus at the Wells Fargo Pavilion, the 67th season for the venerable institution.

STAGES St. Louis is thrilled to announce its spectacular 31st Season! The 2017 Season includes Andrew Lloyd Webber's inspiring JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, Dolly Parton's 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL, Rodgers and Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC, and our TYA version of SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL. According to Artistic Director Michael Hamilton, the season "explores the triumphant powers of family, friendship, loyalty, and community in an ever challenging world." The fun kicks off June 2nd and runs through October 8th, 2017.

 9 To 5 The Musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic.

Hill Country Community Theatre is pleased to announce its 2016-17 season.  Featuring five productions, the season includes the musical comedy Don't Hug Me, the comedy 'Til Beth Do Us Part, the drama Rabbit Hole, the suspense thriller Murder Weapon, and the popular  9 to 5: The Musical.  This marks HCCT's 31st year as a destination for exhilarating performances and entertaining theatrical experiences.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, country music legend Dolly Parton has been hard at work on a Broadway musical about her life. In a recent interview with Variety, she revealed that the show is well on its way. She told Variety: 'We're auditioning people and looking for all the right people. It will be probably two years before it actually hits the stage knowing how slow things go.'

9 to 5: The Musical takes place in 1979-a fact the Fine Arts Center hammers home with an abundance of geometric, high-contrast design, bell-bottoms, and loud shirts-but the story it tells feels oddly contemporary: hostile work environments, wage inequality, sexual harassment. About the only thing different is that the regular eight-hour shift described by the title is a distant, wistful memory.

There are certain theatrical experiences out there that are your "vegetables". The shows that make you think about your life, choices, and the world around you. And then there are shows like "9 to 5: The Musical" which are basically dessert. Those fun bits of fluff that aren't going to change your world but make for a yummy, candy coated evening. Today in 2009, 9 to 5 closed at the Marquis Theatre, where it ran for 148 performances. 9 to 5 is a stage musical with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and a book by Patricia Resnick, based on the 1980 movie Nine to Five. Resnick had co-written the screenplay with Colin Higgins, the director of the film, in which Parton had her first screen role. The musical premiered at Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles in September 2008 and opened on Broadway on April 30, 2009. It was nominated for 15 Drama Desk Awards, the most received by a production in a single year. It was also nominated for four Tony Awards.
