Bougere, Jones et al. Lead Goodman's THE GOOD NEGRO, 5/1 - 6/6

Casting is complete for Goodman Theatre's Chicago-premiere production of Tracey Scott Wilson's The Good Negro, directed by Resident Director Chuck Smith. Wilson and Smith have tapped nine actors to bring this historical drama to the Albert stage, including Karen Aldridge (Goodman's The Cook; Proof); Teagle F. Bougere (Broadway's A Raisin in the Sun; The Tempest); Tory O. Davis (Goodman's Magnolia); John Hoogenakker (Goodman's Rock 'n' Roll; Chicago Shakespeare's Othello); Billy Eugene Jones (Broadway's Passing Strange; Radio Golf); Nambi Kelley (Goodman's Crumbs from the Table of Joy; Victory Gardens' The Lost Boys of Sudan); Demetrios Troy (Northlight's Awake and Sing; Chicago Shakespeare's Richard III); Dan Waller (Goodman's Ghostwritten; Talking Pictures) and Mick Weber (Goodman's Rock 'n' Roll; Chicago Theatre's Shear Madness). The production will run from May 1 - June 6, 2010.

Goodman 2010-2011 Season to Feature Ruhl, CANDIDE et al.; Season Announced

Artistic Director Robert Falls announced Goodman Theatre's initial five-play line-up, including two reimagined classics and three world-premiere productions (two of which are Goodman commissions) that define the theater's new 2010/2011 season; three plays are still to be announced.

Rehearsals begin this week for Goodman Theatre's world premiere of A True History of the Johnstown Flood by Rebecca Gilman, whose work was most recently included in Time magazine's 'Best Theatre Productions of the Decade.' Commissioned by the Goodman and directed by Robert Falls, A True History of the Johnstown Flood runs March 13 - April 18, 2010 in the Goodman's Albert Theatre. Goodman Theatre Kicks Off Third Annual 'Cindy Bandle Young Critics' Program

Goodman Theatre's program dedicated to shaping theater critics of the future, the 'Cindy Bandle Young Critics' (CBYC) program, named for the Goodman's longtime press director, returns for its third year, engaging 29 11th graders from high schools in Chicago and neighboring Algonquin, Evanston, Hinsdale, Homer Glen, Itasca, Lake Bluff, Northbrook, Oak Lawn, Spring Grove, Westchester and Zion.

From Manischewitz to Matzo balls to the mayhem of High Holidays by Alan Gross, Goodman Theatre's Education and Community Engagement division and Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies join forces for a unique dining event, 'Tasting Tradition: Tales at the Table of Jewish Culture,' on November 23 from 6:30 - 8:30pm at the award-winning Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies facility (610 S Michigan Ave) with floor-to-ceiling views of Grant Park and Lake Michigan.
