CAT Theatre will present Enchanted April March 21 thru April 5, 2014. This is CAT's second time to present Enchanted April, the first being in 2007. In celebration of CAT's 50-year history as Richmond's professional theater with a community heart, CAT patrons selected Enchanted April as the show they would most like to see repeated.
CAT Theatre continues its 50th Anniversary Season with Enchanted April which runs from March 21 thru April 5, 2014. Enchanted April was chosen by CAT patrons as the show they would most like to see repeated from CAT's 50-year history. 'The Enchanted April' was written by Elizabeth von Arnim and the novel was adapted to the stage by Kane Campbell. The 1991 film version featured Miranda Richardson, Alfred Molina and Joan Plowright.
The AKC/Eukanuba National Championship Best in Show honors and $50,000 in prize money went to GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse, a Portuguese Water Dog known as "Matisse" owned by Milan Lint, Peggy Helming and Donna Gottdenker of New York, New York. Before an enthusiastic crowd at the Orange County Convention Center Sunday night, "Matisse" was crowned "National Champion" by Best in Show judge Mrs. Barbara Dempsey Alderman after a weekend of exciting competition.
On April 13, TheatreSquared will open The Fall of the House, the acclaimed new mystery by Artistic Director Robert Ford and directed by Sundown Town veteran Kevin C. Fox. Nominated for the Mystery Writers of America's 2011 Edgar Award, The Fall of the House connects the journeys of two American women, separated by centuries, revealing the desperate bargains we make for love. The ensemble and design team for the new production, sponsored by the Willard and Pat Walker Charitable Foundation, brings together a professional roster of artists from Chicago and Northwest Arkansas. Following a public preview April 12, The Fall of the House plays Friday, April 13 through Sunday, May 6 in the 175-seat Studio Theatre at Walton Arts Center's Nadine Baum Studios, with performances Thursdays at 7:30, Fridays at 7:30, Saturdays at 2:00 and 7:30, and Sundays at 2:00 and 7:00. Tickets start at $22 ($10/under 30) and can be purchased by calling the Walton Arts Center Box Office at (479) 443-5600 or by visiting theatre2.org. Recommended rating: PG-13 (occasional strong language).
