This limited season of Daniel Evans' five star Sheffield Crucible production of SHOW BOAT today commences its final four weeks, playing its last West End performance at the New London Theatre on Saturday on 27 August 2016.  

The Theatre Lab, in partnership with Theater J, presents columbinus at Theater J on August 19 as it concludes its 2016 Summer Acting Institute for Teens. That same weekend, The Theatre Lab's Musical Theatre Institute for Teens will open its second production of the summer, the classic musical Carousel, with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II.Carousel runs August 18-20 at The Theatre Lab.

A surprisingly well-done, beautifully-paced production that feels like a truly fresh revival of something many of us have forever seared in our brains, this brand new, Jack O'Brien-helmed national tour of THE SOUND OF MUSIC---now on stage at Orange County's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa through July 31---is a resplendent enterprise that is equal parts heartwarming nostalgia and entertaining, feel-good theater. Say what you will about how hokey and old-fashioned this show may be now... but I, for one, truly adored it. Besides its lovely visuals, this new revival has made a wonderful discovery in Kerstin Anderson, who plays a spunky, utterly charming version of everyone's favorite nun-turned-nanny Maria.

Matthew Morrison has been nominated for a Tony Award for "Light in the Piazza" and Emmy and Golden Globe Awards for his starring role in the hit TV series "Glee." T. Fellowship, in association with Columbia University School of the Arts, announces the next T. Fellow is Christopher Maring, the fifth fellow in the one?year program designed to educate and empower new creative producers. The fellow will receive a stipend of $10,000 with a $20,000 budget for the development of a new theatrical production.

South Pacific is a musical composed by Richard Rodgers, with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and book by Hammerstein and Joshua Logan. The plot centers on an American nurse stationed on a South Pacific island during World War II, who falls in love with a middle-aged expatriate French plantation owner but struggles to accept his mixed-race children. A secondary romance, between a U.S. lieutenant and a young Tonkinese woman, explores his fears of the social consequences should he marry his Asian sweetheart. The issue of racial prejudice is candidly explored throughout the musical, most controversially in the lieutenant's song, 'You've Got to Be Carefully Taught'. Supporting characters, including a comic petty officer and the Tonkinese girl's mother, help to tie the stories together.

Christine Toy Johnson has come full circle in a career with many facets: from her first Equity role to her current stint as Bloody Mary in Guthrie Theater's SOUTH PACIFIC, this Rodgers & Hammerstein musical has been important to her.

The Stolen Shakespeare Guild presents STATE FAIR with Music by Richard Rodgers; Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II; Book by Tom Briggs and Louis Mattioli; and based on the screenplay by Oscar Hammerstein II and the novel by Phil Stong. In celebration of outstanding achievement in high school musical theater performances, Broadway In Chicago is thrilled to announce the award recipients of the Fifth Annual Illinois High School Musical Theater Awards: Jack Cahill-Lemme of Park Ridge, IL (Main South High School) as BEST ACTOR for his portrayal of Edward Bloom in BIG FISH and Cecilia Trippiedi of Orland Park, IL (Carl Sandburg High School) as BEST ACTRESS for her portrayal of Eliza Doolittle in MY FAIR LADY. Jack and Cecilia will represent the state of Illinois at The Jimmy Awards in New York on June 27, 2016.
