Minnesota Opera Announces Robert Ainsley as New Director of Young Artist Program & More

MINNEAPOLIS (July 29, 2016) – Minnesota Opera today announced that Head of Music Robert Ainsley has accepted the position as the new Director of the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program and the American Opera Initiative, effective next month. For the last three years, Rob has served as the Head of Music Staff, Chorus Master and Coach at Minnesota Opera and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. He has worked on several world premiere and American operas at both companies, including Minnesota Opera's The Dream of Valentino, The Manchurian Candidate and The Shining.

The Ordway Adds ELVIS LIVES to 2016-17 Season

The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts has announced that it has added a one-night-only performance of Elvis Lives to its 2016-17 season. The show, which is billed as "The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Event," will be presented in the Ordway's Music Theater on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.

Theatreworks USA Presents Junie B.'s Essential Survival Guide to School

This summer Theatreworks USA, the nation's leading not-for-profit professional theatre for young audiences, will present the Off-Broadway Premiere of Junie B.'s Essential Survival Guide to School. Thanks to the generosity of corporations, foundations, and donors, Theatreworks USA  will be able to send over 12,000 underserved youth to the theatre for FREE!

The Ordway to Present PAINT YOUR WAGON, 8/9-21

The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts opens its 2016-17 season with an exciting new 'revisal' of Lerner & Loewe's Paint Your Wagon, Aug. 9-21. Featuring an all new book by Pulitzer Prize nominated playwright Jon Marans, the show opened at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre in June 2016. Twin Cities audiences will be among the first in the world to experience this updated sweeping saga of the mythic West and the pursuit of the American Dream. Ordway to Present TRAVIS WALL'S SHAPING SOUND: DANCE REIMAGINED, 10/14

The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts has announced that Travis Wall's Shaping Sound: Dance Reimagined, one of North America's hottest new dance shows, will come to the Ordway for a special one-night-only performance on Friday, Oct. 14. Nai-Ni Chen Dance Workshop to Present Community Dance Workshop Concert at Forum Theatre

The Nai-Ni Chen Dance Workshop will present the annual Community Dance Workshop Concert on Sunday, June 19 at 2pm at the Forum Theatre at 314 Main St, Metuchen, NJ 08840.  This recital is open to the public for a suggested donation of $15.  The Nai-Ni Chen Dance Workshop, established in 2012 in response to popular demand from the community, is part of the critically acclaimed Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, led by world-renowned choreographer Nai-Ni, whose work fuses the dynamic freedom of American modern dance with the elegant splendor of Asian art.  Ms. Chen herself develops the curriculum for the Dance Workshop, which is taught by experienced Chinese traditional dance instructors trained at the prestigious Beijing Dance Academy.  Students range from ages seven to seventeen and take weekly classes on Saturdays between 2:30pm and 7:30pm in beginning, intermediate, and advanced traditional Chinese Dance and Modern Dance techniques.
