Last night, April 12, opened its premiere engagement at the Opera House, Manchester running from 28 March - 14 May 2011 for a strictly limited 7 week run before it begins its West End run at the Piccadilly Theatre on 22 June 2011, with booking open for performances until 28 January 2012. According to a report by Variety, Broadway veteran Whoopi Goldberg is looking to bring her 1983 San Francisco show, MOMS, to New York in an off Broadway production. The one-woman show was a tribute to comedianne Moms Mabley. Additionally, Goldberg plans to direct a documentary on the same subject, which she hope to complete by the end of the year.

Stewart, whose latest project Ghost The Musical will have its world premiere in the UK this Spring, is a long standing ambassador for the international grassroots charitable movement Stand Up To Cancer. The new single will be the first-ever theatrical single to benefit cancer research.

Accoring to a report by Baz Bamigboye in UK Daily Mail, Australian choreographer Ashley Wallen, is set to choreograph the upcoming musical version of Ghost. Wallen is perhaps best known for his work with Kylie Minogue and DanceX. Wallen has also with stars such as The Sugababes, Will Young and Mariah Carey. This will be the first time he has worked on a musical theatre piece.

Matthew Warchus, the 2009 Tony Award winner for Best Direction of a Play for his work guiding Best Play honoree GOD OF CARNAGE, talks to The New York Times about two of his upcoming projects, the musical adaptations of the film GHOST and Roald Dahl's book 'Matilda.'

Matthew Warchus is to direct a musical version of the Academy award winning film Ghost, scheduled to open in the West End in 2010. Music and lyrics are by Grammy award winning Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard, Oscar winning Bruce Joel Rubin will adapt his original screen play for the stage and write lyrics, set and costumes designs are by Rob Howell and the musical supervisors will be Christopher Nightingale and Tesse Gohl. Ghost is produced by David Garfinkle of New York?s Hello Entertainment and London producer Colin Ingram in association with Paramount Pictures.
