Matilda the Musical, produced by the RSC and running at the Cambridge Theatre, leads the way with ten nominations - the maximum number of eligible awards for a musical this year. These notably include a collective nomination for Best Actress for all four young actresses who play the title role. Amongst other musical theatre productions Ghost The Musical at the Piccadilly Theatre and the National Theatre's London Road have five and four nominations respectively.

Shrek The Musical will spread goodwill and cheer this festive season. On Thursday, December 15, 2011, students from Blessed Sacrament RC Primary School, Islington treated audience members to Christmas carols following the matinee performance at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
Following last year's sell-out success, MAD presented this year's annual festive fundraiser at The Actors' Church, Covent Garden, A WEST END CHRISTMAS. The event took place on December 4, and guests perfoming included: Peter Bowles, Maureen Lipman, Nigel Harman, Alison Jiear, Scott Garnham, Will Barratt & Keiran B. Brown, alongside West End Casts including: Disney's The Lion King, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Shrek, 39 Steps and Legally Blonde.
The evening also featued an original song by Bobby Cronin and Angelyn Benson from their adaptation of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, performed by Jye Frasca (JERSEY BOYS, THRILL ME).
