The New Group announces additional casting for productions coming up in the company's 2016-2017 Season.

As with their Vineyard Theatre success of five years ago, THE LYONS, in THIS DAY FORWARD, the team of playwright Nicky Silver and director Mark Brokaw display an impressive talent for packaging complex family drama as hip, off-beat comedy before getting to the guts of the long-term effects of dysfunctionality.

Vineyard Theatre's production of Nicky Silver's play THIS DAY FORWARD, opening the Vineyard Theatre's 2016-2017 season began performances Thursday, November 3 and will open on Monday, November 21. THIS DAY FORWARD features Andrew Burnap (TROILUS AND CRESSIDA), Michael Crane (Vineyard's GLORIA and 'People of Earth'), Holley Fain ('Grey's Anatomy'), Francesca Faridany (THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME), Tony Award nominee June Gable (CANDIDE, 'Friends') and Joe Tippett (AIRLINE HIGHWAY). The New York premiere of KID VICTORY, book and lyrics by Greg Pierce, music by John Kander with story by John Kander and Greg Pierce, and directed by Liesl Tommy will begin previews on Wednesday, February 1 and open on Wednesday, February 22 at the Vineyard Theatre, it has been announced by the company's Artistic Directors, Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern.

The beloved award-winning actress Tovah Feldshuh and actress Mamie Gummer will be among those on hand to salute playwright Lindsey Ferrentino when she receives the 2016 Kesselring Prize for Playwriting on Monday, Nov. 14 at 7 pm at the National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South).

A gripping struggle to hold on to morality during the hardest of times. Experience Felix Mitterer's enthralling drama based on the life and death of Franz Jagerstatter (1907-1943), an Austrian farmer who refused to fight on behalf of Hitler because of his faith, morals and ideals. Mitterer depicts Franz, who was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI in 2007, as a courageous but insecure human being - and not at all as a saint.  

Musical Theatre West's (MTW) Reiner Staged Reading Series presents the Rodgers & Hart's classic The Boys from Syracuse Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 7:00pm at its new home, the Beverly O'Neill Theater, located at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center.  Tickets are now on Tickets are now on sale online at www.musical.org, by visiting the MTW West Ticket Office, or by calling (562) 856-1999, ext. 4.  Advance general admission tickets for each performance are $27 (or $32 on the day of the performance).  You can also purchase a subscription for the final two 2016 Reiner Staged Reading performances (She Loves Me will be performed Saturday, December 3, 7pm) for $50.  Seating is general admission, with season subscribers receiving early access to the theatre via a special subscriber door.

Broadwayworld.com interviewed Leslie Ayvazian who wrote Out of the City, now showing at Passage Theatre Company in Trenton. Directed by Murphy Davis, Ayvazian also plays Carol in the show.

Online submissions are being accepted beginning today through January 2 for the 2017 YALE INSTITUTE FOR MUSIC THEATRE.

John Tiffany returns to the West End for the first time since the international critical hit Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: Parts One and Two, to bring his acclaimed production of The Glass Menagerie to the Duke of York's Theatre for a limited season.

The Public Theater has announced a final extension today for the first major New York revival of PLENTY, written by David Hare. Directed by five-time Tony Award nominee David Leveaux, the show began performances on Tuesday, November 4 and was originally extended through Sunday, November 20. It will now run through Thursday, December 1, with an official press opening Sunday, October 23.

Vineyard Theatre's Artistic Directors, Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern, are excited to announce a partnership with Developing Artists, a non-profit arts education organization led by Artistic Director Jill DeArmon and Executive Director Jinn S. Kim. The two organizations have partnered to expand the education initiatives of both companies and co-present Developing Artists' REBEL VERSES Youth Arts Festival, July 27-August 5, 2017 at Vineyard Theatre 108 E. 15 St. in New York City.
