Ensemble Connect Embarks on Second Year of Two-Year Fellowship Program

Ensemble Connect, comprised of some of the finest young professional classical musicians in the United States, continues its two-year fellowship program this season with concerts at Carnegie Hall and The Juilliard School, as well as residencies and performances at The Pocantico Center of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund; Skidmore College; and in schools and community venues throughout New York City. Highlights of the Ensemble's 2017-2018 season include the premiere performances of bright and fair, a new work by Gabriel Kahane, commissioned by Carnegie Hall for its 125 Commissions Project, featuring Mr. Kahane as guest vocalist in Weill Recital Hall on February 19. This fall, Ensemble Connect travels to The Pocantico Center in Tarrytown, New York to collaborate with composer Andy Akiho on a new work, also commissioned by Carnegie Hall, to premiere in 2018.

NACL Theatre to Premiere Immersive COURAGE on Governors Island

NACL Theatre (North American Cultural Laboratory) premieres COURAGE, based on Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage and her Children, a site specific, immersive theatrical journey on Governors Island, September 22-24, 2pm. Film actress Debra Winger joins the 25-member cast in a cameo role.

Cast Complete for Charles Ludlam's CONQUEST OF THE UNIVERSE OR WHEN QUEENS COLLIDE at La MaMa

CONQUEST OF THE UNIVERSE OR WHEN QUEENS COLLIDE which marked the birth of the The Ridiculous Theatrical Company, co-founded by the late groundbreaking playwright and performer Charles Ludlam in 1967 will return on the occasion of the play and the company's 50th anniversary with a production, starring and directed by Everett Quinton, a long-standing member of RTC who assumed leadership as Artistic Director when Mr. Ludlam died 30 years ago, in 1987.

2018 Paul Taylor American Modern Dance Season Announced

Paul Taylor American Modern Dance (PTAMD) will present its annual Season at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center from March 7 to 25, 2018. The Season will introduce the World Premiere of Paul Taylor's 147th dance, and feature World premieres of dances choreographed by Doug Varone and Bryan Arias commissioned through Taylor Company Commissions and made on the Taylor dancers. Special guest artist Sara Mearns, New York City Ballet Principal Dancer, will perform Dances of Isadora reconstructed by Isadora Duncan Dance Company Artistic Director Lori Belilove. Trisha Brown Dance Company will perform Trisha Brown's Set and Reset. Music will be performed live on every program by Orchestra of St. Luke's, conducted by Taylor Music Director/Maestro Donald York and Maestro David LaMarche. Tickets go on sale September 15 at www.boxoffice.dance.

The Kitchen welcomes back Dirty Looks, the bi-coastal platform for queer experimental film, video and performance, for an unprecedented program of cinematic arcana and voluptuous horrors that make up the work of painted Downtown New York icon Kembra Pfahler.

Watch the Stars Come Out at Westchester Collaborative Theater's Annual Gala

A dynamic duo, internationally acclaimed jazz artist Alexis Cole and Obie award-winning playwright Susan Miller (My Left Breast), are two of the headliners set to grace the stage today, September 16, at Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT)'s 'Watch the Stars Come Out,' the theater group's most 'starstruck' annual fundraiser to date. The blockbuster event will feature a performance by Cole, one of Ossining's own, and remarks by Miller on her commitment to support WCT's unique mission to develop new, innovative work for the theater plus candid, insider insights on the state of theater in today's reframed market. Cole will be accompanied by Emmy nominated composer/producer and arranger Kinny Landrum of Sleepy Hollow on keyboard for the entertainment segment of the evening.

Rochester Fringe Slates Over 500 Shows on World Fringe Day

The Kitchen presents World Premiere of YARN/WIRE: ENNO POPPE

The Kitchen is pleased to present the world premiere of Yarn/Wire: Enno Poppe, October 6. Admired for the energy and precision they bring to performances of today's most adventurous music, this year Yarn/Wire are championing new work by Berlin-based composer Enno Poppe. Combining the complex timbres of percussion instruments hand-crank sirens, wood drums, cymbals, complex suspended metal plates, mallet percussion and found objects , all filtered through microtonal organs or paired with dense, perpetually moving piano complexity, and applied with the quartet's skills, this concert give rise to the sonic universe of Enno Poppe.

Madison Square Park Hosts Kids Festival STAGES IN THE SQUARE 2017

Madison Square Park Conservancy will host the 2017 Kids Fest: Stages in the Square, the free family-friendly festival which will feature a diverse lineup of performing arts programming on Saturday, October 14th from 11am to 3pm on two stages across the Park. Some performances will also utilize Josiah McElheny's exhibition, Prismatic Park. The daylong event for children 0-12 years old and their families will feature a variety performances including music, dance, theater, puppetry, magic, and storytelling.
