2014 New Voices Project Finalists Revealed

Looking for the next Sondheim -- or we should say Bobby Lopez (who wrote 'Frozen' and 'The Book of Mormon')...? Maybe the newest voice in musical theatre just won the 2014 New Voices Project, sponsored by New Musicals Initiative in Los Angeles. Three talented young musical theatre writers will have selections from their new musicals showcased as part of the New Musical Initiative's annual GOT MUSICAL concert at the Colony Theatre in Burbank on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.

MOTHER, WIFE AND THE COMPLICATED LIFE Concert with Amity Dry Set for 54 Below Tonight

Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life - the acclaimed musical that premiered in New York last summer after a smash tour throughout Australia - will return to the city with a very special concert version at 54 Below tonight, March 18 at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $25-$35 in addition to a $25 food and beverage minimum.

The Deer Players to Present THE BRINK OF US at South Oxford Space, 4/25-5/17

The Deer Players (Producers Julia Piker and Peter Staley) will present the World Premiere of THE BRINK OF US by Delaney Britt Brewer (Wolves at 59e59) April 25-May 17 at South Oxford Space (138 South Oxford Street between Atlantic Ave and Hanson Place, Brooklyn). The production will be directed by Kara-Lynn Vaeni (AliceGraceAnon with New Georges) and feature Daniel Cuff, Tom Kelsey, Starr Kirkland, Annelise Nielsen, Julia Piker, Peter Staley, Zachary J. Smith, and Linda Tardif. The creative team will include Set and Lighting Design by Nick Francone (Vampire Cowboys) with assistance from Rachel Schapira, and Costume Design by Ethan Berube. The production is presented with support from New Georges.

Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life - the acclaimed musical that premiered in New York last summer after a smash tour throughout Australia - will return to the city with a very special concert version at 54 Below on Tuesday, March 18 at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $25-$35 in addition to a $25 food and beverage minimum. A musical 'Sex and the City' meets 'Desperate Housewives,' the show stars Amity Dry (who also wrote music, book and lyrics), in addition to Nikki Aitken, Rachel McCall and Susan Ferguson. It features music and arrangements by Mark Simeon Ferguson and direction by David Lampard. Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life was introduced to U.S. audiences last summer as part of the 2013 New York Musical Theatre Festival. It will also be featured as a side event at this year's 'Commission for the Status of Women' conference at the United Nations on Monday, March 17.

54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, and The New York Musical Theatre Festival(NYMF) will proudly present the winner of the 2013 'NYMF's Next Broadway Sensation,' Erica Lustig, in a special one-night-only concert tonight, March 11, 2014. The talented Florida native took the competition by storm when she walked away as the winner of this highly competitive program, which has become not only a highlight of the NYMF season, but a New York musical theatre tradition among those in the know.

York Theatre Company to Present Developmental Reading of P.J. Barry's STORM Tonight

The York Theatre Company, and its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series, will present the new play Storm written and directed by P.J. Barry, and the new musical, God's Country with Book & Lyrics by Erik Johnke, and Music by Elaine Chelton at The York Theatre Company's home at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

Urban Stages Presents CHARACTER MAN, A MUSICAL MEMOIR, Now thru 3/30

Urban Stages Founding Artistic Director Frances Hill and producer Peter Napolitano present the World Premiere of Character Man as part of its 30th Anniversary season. Jim Brochu's new musical memoir begins an Off-Broadway run at Urban Stages Theatre (259 West 30th Street) tonight, February 28th, with opening night set for Wednesday March 5th. This limited run will continue through March 30th only. Robert Bartley directs, with musical direction by Carl Haan. Character Man will have scenic & video design by Patrick Brennan, lighting design by Meghan Santelli and sound design by Sean Hagerty.

R. Erin Craig / La Vie Productions and Kevin Connor in association with Antoinette DiPietropolo and BoCo Student Government present a reading ACADEMY, conceived and developed by Andrew Kato, and written by John Mercurio, on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Boston Conservatory in Boston, MA.

2014 NYMF Announces Next Link Project Selections

The 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) today announced the Next Link Project musical selections. The 10 musicals were announced as part of the 11th edition of the Festival, which will take place from July 7 to July 27 at locations around midtown Manhattan in New York City, including The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street).

Cast of YANK! to Reunite for CD Launch at York Theatre, 2/24

The York Theatre Company will welcome cast members of the original Off-Broadway production of the critically acclaimed musical, Yank!, with book & lyrics by David Zellnik and music by Joe Zellnik, to celebrate the official release of the cast recording on Monday evening, February 24 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at The York Theatre Company's home at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). The celebration will be held on stage at The York Theatre, where Yank! received its world premiere and played a sold-out engagement in Spring 2010.

Tribeca PAC Opens BIKEMAN, A 9/11 PLAY Tonight

Marc Agger and William Brown present Bikeman: A 9/11 Play by Thomas F. Flynn based on his acclaimed book. Flynn is an Emmy Award-winning CBS reporter who nearly lost his life when the Twin Towers fell. He lived to write about his odyssey in an epic narrative poem that soon became a best seller. Dan Rather called it 'a journey into a modern underworld, and of the escape that made it possible to tell the tale.' Now, this critically acclaimed book has been adapted for the stage directed by Michael Bush. Bikeman features Tony Award nominee Robert Cuccioli, Irungu Mutu, Angela Pierce, Elizabeth Ramos, and Richard Topol. Opening night is tonight, February 18 at 7PM.
