The Cadre, an emerging theater company, today announced that Alex Lenderman, renowned Grandmaster chess player, will lead a fundraiser for Art of Attack, the company's upcoming original play about two Russian brothers' addiction to chess. The event will take place on Saturday, August 21st, from 2 PM - 6 PM, at Holley Plaza in Washington Square Park and will give attendees the opportunity to compete against Lenderman for $10 per game. Prizes include tickets to see Art of Attack as well as chess sets and free lessons courtesy of the New York Chess and Game Shop.

Dalliance Theater's world premiere of THE GIRL IN THE PARK opens tonight, Wednesday, August 18 at 6:15pm. Inspired by stories in the news, THE FOURTH ESTATE by Glenda Frank visits four countries where journalists find their lives endangered simply for doing their job. In Afghanistan, a veteran photographer and rookie reporter dodge grenades and romance. In North Korea, two women condemned as spies invent curious coping devices. In St. Louis, two opponents who were once friends argue environmental contamination and divorce. In Dublin, Valerie, crime reporter, has received another death threat. Will she face down the mobsters again or fold?
