New York City Opera has announced the appointment of Myra Huang, whom Opera News has praised as 'among the top accompanists of her generation' and 'a colouristic tour de force,' as Head of Music Staff. The announcement comes on the eve of a 2013 season full of new productions, beginning with Thomas Adès' Powder Her Face, directed by Jay Scheib, February 15-23 at BAM.
Janice L. Mayer has been named Executive Director of Musica Sacra by the President of the Board of Directors, Scott Lethbridge. Ms. Mayer's leadership of the nonprofit choral organization will be effective January 2, 2013. In announcing the appointment, Mr. Lethbridge said, "Janice's long experience with the classical music world combined with her business acumen will be an invaluable asset to Musica Sacra."

Choreographers Brian Brooks, Beth Gill and Pontus Lidberg have been awarded New York City Center's 2012-13 Choreography Fellowships. The 41st annual Heida Hermanns International Voice Competition, a two-day event presented by the Connecticut Alliance for Music (CAM) with the support of the Westport Arts Center, will bring together young musicians from around the world at Westport Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Avenue, Westport, today and Sunday, December 1 and 2.
