Rufus Wainwright Requests Funds for New Opera, PRIMA DONNA

Opera singer, songwriter and composer, Rufus Wainwright, has released this personal request to his fans to raise funds to record his Bastille Day-set opera Prima Donna, with hopes of a touring concert version to follow.

George London Foundation to Welcome Christine Brewer and Dominic Armstrong, 4/6

One of America's most beloved sopranos, Christine Brewer, who won a George London Award in 1991, and 2013 George London Award winner Dominic Armstrong, called a 'clarion-voiced tenor' by The New York Times, will share the stage for the third and final event in the season's George London Foundation Recital Series. Pianist Craig Rutenberg joins the singers for the recital on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at 4:30 PM at The Morgan Library & Museum.

BULLETS OVER BROADWAY Begins Previews at St. James Theatre Tonight; Meet the Cast!

The world premiere production of the brand new musical comedy Bullets Over Broadway, written by Woody Allen and based on the screenplay by Allen and Douglas McGrath for the 1994 film, will begin preview performances tomorrow, March 11 and officially open Thursday, April 10, 2014 at The St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). The new musical will be directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. Bainbridge Chorale & Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra to Perform VERDI'S REQUIEM, 4/12-13

The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra and the Bainbridge Chorale team up in an historic collaboration this spring. Maestro Michael Austin Miller, Music Director of the Bainbridge Chorale, will lead the combined orchestra and choir in Ralph Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music. Next, Maestro Wesley Schulz of the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra will take the baton to lead members of these two incredible musical organizations in Giuseppe Verdi's monumental Requiem.

The Utopia Opera Presents DER FREISCHÜTZ, 3/21-22

On March 21 and 22, Utopia Opera presents the rarely-performed German operatic gem, Der Freischütz by Carl Maria von Weber (1786-1826). One of the first operas of the German romantic tradition, the fully staged production will be performed with a 20-piece orchestra at the Ida K. Lang Recital Hall at Hunter College (695 Park Avenue). Utopia founder and artistic director, William Remmers, conducts and directs both shows.

Leanne Agmon, Jonathan Fielding, Rose Hemingway & More to Star in The Old Globe's TIME AND THE CONWAYS; Cast Announced

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the Globe's revival of J.B. Priestley's period classic Time and the Conways. Directed by Rebecca Taichman, Time and the Conways will run March 29 - May 4, 2014 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run March 29 - April 2. Four Vocal Soloists and Montclair State University Chorale Join NJ Symphony for Verdi's REQUIEM, 4/3-6

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Jacques Lacombe present Verdi's mammoth Requiem April 3-6 in Newark, New Brunswick and Morristown with soprano Marianne Fiset, mezzo-soprano Janara Kellerman, tenor Russell Thomas, bass Peter Volpe and the Montclair State University Chorale. Thomas returns to NJSO stages after his performance of Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde with the Orchestra in January. The April 5 performance at the State Theatre in New Brunswick is the NJSO's third College Night event of the season.

Full Cast Announced for Des Moines Metro Opera's 42nd Festival Season, Featuring LA TRAVIATA and More

General and Artistic Director Michael Egel and the Board of Directors have announced casting for the operas of the 42nd Summer Festival Season. The three, full-scale grand operas will be presented in 15 performances between June 27 and July 20, 2014 at the Blank Performing Arts Center in Indianola Iowa. A fourth production will run for 3 performances on July 10 and 19 at the newly renovated Des Moines Social Club in Des Moines as part of the company's newly-minted 2nd Stages Series. The Summer Festival Season repertory includes the return of a timeless operatic classic paired with two operas which will be company premieres - the first is a modern masterpiece and the second is a sparkling farce by opera's greatest comedic composer, Rossini. It's truly a season for everyone from first-time opera-goers to lifelong devotees highlighted by Des Moines Metro Opera's exceptional attention to details, including casting some of the most remarkable vocal talent in America today.

Broadway's Philip Wm. McKinley to Direct THE SOUND OF MUSIC at Starlight this Summer

Internationally known Director Philip Wm. McKinley will direct The Sound of Music at Starlight Theatre, July 25-31. McKinley previously directed Broadway's Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark and The Boy From Oz starring Hugh Jackman, as well as the internationally acclaimed 'Mozart L'OPERA ROCK' which premiered last year in Tokyo, Japan.
