Missing Bolts Productions Presents THE WEIGHT Reading, 3/23

The Weight, a new play by Zac Kline (Messed Up Here Tonight, Big Star California), will be presented in a staged reading March 23rd at 7 PM at Chelsea Studios. Directed by Matthew Klein (Artistic Associate at the New Group), the cast includes with Blair Baker (Oleanna, Broadway/Mark Taper Forum), William Forber, Allison Hirschlag, Emily Olson (Together This Time, NYC Fringe Festival), Dan Stern, Conor Stratton, and Peter Zimmermann. It is produced by NYC's Missing Bolts Productions.

AN EARLY HISTORY OF FIRE to Open Off-Broadway April 30

The New Group presents the world premiere of An Early History of Fire, a new play by Tony Award-winning playwright David Rabe. Directed by Jo Bonney, this production features Deema Aitken, Gordon Clapp, Erin Darke, Jonny Orsini, Devin Ratray, Dennis Staroselsky, Theo Stockman and Claire van der Boom. Limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated April 5 - May 26 at The New Group at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street). Official Opening Night is set for Monday, April 30 at 7:00 PM.

VH1's TOUGH LOVE: NEW ORLEANS to Premiere 4/15

VH1's love gurus and Master Matchmakers(R), Steve and JoAnn Ward are getting 'tough' again on the newest season of VH1's TOUGH LOVE. An all-new cast of unlucky-in-love women hit 'The Big Easy' for Steve's brutally honest love lesson on why they are still single. 'Tough Love: New Orleans' premieres on Sunday, April 15 at 9 PM/8c.

David Strathairn Joins Jessica Chastain in Broadway's THE HEIRESS this Fall

Academy Award® nominee and Emmy® Award winner David Strathairn (Dr. Austin Sloper) will join Academy Award® nominee Jessica Chastain (Catherine Sloper) in the Tony Award®-winning play The Heiress. Written by Ruth Goetz & Augustus Goetz, The Heiress will be directed by Tony Award® nominated playwright and director Moisés Kaufman and will open in the Fall of 2012 at a theatre to be announced.

AVENUE Q Celebrates 1000 Performances at New World Stages Today

The Tony Award winning musical AVENUE Q -- which played a 6-year run on Broadway before moving to New World Stages over two years ago -- will celebrate its 1000th performance at New World Stages (340 W. 50 St.) on Wednesday, March 14.

Written by Zac Kline (Messed Up Here Tonight, Big Star California), directed by Matthew Klein (The Mekka Collective) and Produced by NYC's Missing Bolts Productions.

FLIGHT Opens Tonight at The DR 2 Theatre

Alchemy Theatre Company of Manhattan in association with Playwrights' Playground NYC is presenting the world premiere of FLIGHT by Michel Wallerstein, Off Broadway at the DR 2 Theatre, 103 East 15th Street - off Union Square. Previews began Friday, March 2nd and Opening Wednesday, March 7th for the limited engagement, through April 1 2pm matinee.

Zoe Lister-Jones (The Little Dog Laughed, The Marriage of Bette and Boo, her own Codependence Is a Four-Letter Word, Salt, Breaking Upwards, NBC's "Whitney," Fox Searchlight's upcoming Lola Versus) will join Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Jeff Goldblum (The Pillowman, Jurassic Park, Independence Day, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent") and Film and Television star Justin Long (He's Just Not That Into You, The Break Up, Live Free or Die Hard, Dodgeball, "Ed") beginning Tuesday, April 3 in the cast of the Broadway season's hit comedy SEMINAR by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Peabody Award winner Theresa Rebeck (Mauritius, Omnium Gatherum, "NYBD Blue," NBC's new hit series "Smash").

Developmental Production of DARLING, A NEW MUSICAL to be Presented at Emerson College, 3/1 & 2

Following nearly two months of on-campus development, Retrop Productions and Emerson College's RareWorks Theatre Company, in association with Kurt Deutsch, President and Founder of Sh-K Boom Records, will present Ryan Scott Oliver and Brett Ryback's Darling, A New Musical. The developmental production will premiere in Boston, MA, at Emerson College's Semel Theater on March 2, 2012.

Nancy Manocherian Honored by The New Group

Off-Broadway's The New Group honors David Rabe and Nancy Manocherian, founding Artistic Director of the cell theater in Chelsea, at the company's 2012 Gala, hosted by Janeane Garofalo & Morgan Spector. Rabe and Manocherian are recipients of the sixth annual Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Commitment to Theater. Founded in 2005, this award recognizes individuals who show outstanding commitment to the theatrical community. Past recipients include Wallace Shawn, Fred Wistow, Robyn Goodman, Ethan Hawke, Ruth and Stephen Hendel, Wendy Ettinger and Derek McLane.

Lily Rabe Leaves Cast of New Group's EARLY HISTORY OF FIRE
