The Ojai Playwrights Conference (OPC), one of the most acclaimed new play developmental programs in the country, announces its 16th season with an extraordinary program of playwrights, new play workshops and special performance events from August 7 through 11, in Ojai, California. The OPC Summer New Works Festival will feature eleven events over five days with established and up-and-coming playwrights. Participating in this year's conference with new works are Luis Alfaro, Lucy Alibar, Richard Cabral, Samuel D. Hunter, Sean Lewis, Jiehae Park, Laura Schellhardt and David Wiener.

Victor Maog, Artistic Director of Second Generation (2g), a theatre company that puts Asian-American stories on the world stage, announced today that over 30 multi-ethnic artists will be featured in 2G: SIXTEEN GOING ON SEVENTEEN, which will play Joe's Pub, 425 Lafayette Street, tonight, June 24, at 7pm. The event celebrates SECOND GENERATION (2g)'s 2012-13 season and introduces its commissioned writers.

The New Group launches its 2013-2014 Off-Broadway season with the New York premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Beth Henley's The Jacksonian, arriving in Fall 2013. Directed by Tony Award winner Robert Falls, this production features Ed Harris, Glenne Headly, Amy Madigan and Bill Pullman. The Jacksonian was first produced at the Geffen Playhouse in 2012. In Winter 2014, as the second production in the company's season, The New Group delivers the world premiere of Thomas Bradshaw's Intimacy, directed by Scott Elliott. The third production of The New Group's upcoming season is to be announced.

BWW Interviews: Tony LePage on New Air Supply Musical LOST IN LOVE

Musical Theatre and 80s rock are about to collide once again as a new project gets off the ground this Tuesday in New York City. Lost in Love is a modern day retelling of Shakespeare's classic Midsummer's Night's Dream set to the music of Air Supply and starring Constantine Maroulis and Kate Rockwell. Featuring sixteen Air Supply songs and new Music and Lyrics by Graham Russell, the show is an attempt to merge two mediums and introduce a new audience to the joy of live musical theatre. BWW spoke with Tony LePage (who is co-writing the book with Justin Matthew Sargent) on the project and how he balances it with starring in Rock of Ages.

FST to Present 5th Annual Sarasota Improv Festival, 7/12-13

After the snowbirds have gone and the sun is searing, the 5th Annual Sarasota Improv Festival returns on July 12 and 13 for two nights of non-stop comedy with 16 of the hottest groups on the national improv scene. Acts from Chicago, Boston, Austin, Miami, Atlanta and everywhere in between will perform on the Cabaret stage in the festival that Sarasota Magazine called "high-energy" and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune called "hilarious." Pricing varies, with passes available for the weekend at $59, nightly at $49, individual shows at $10/each, and Special Event tickets at $25. Workshops are also on sale and are $29 for a two hour session with a professional improv group.
