TheaterWorks presents RELATIVITY, a new play by Mark St. Germain directed by Rob Ruggiero. RELATIVITY is the first show of TheaterWorks 31st Season and will run tonight, October 7, through November 13, 2016.

As previously announced, the League of Professional Theatre Women will present Judith Light for its next Oral History interview. Just confirmed, Light will sit down with two-time Obie-winning director Leigh Silverman to discuss her extensive body of work on and off-stage.

Yale Repertory Theatre, celebrating 50 years of daring artists, bold choices, and adventurous audiences, presents the world premiere of Scenes from Court Life, or the whipping boy and his prince by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Mark Wing-Davey, now through October 22 at Yale University Theatre (222 York Street). Opening Night is tonight, October 6.

Rehearsals are underway for the Steppenwolf-commissioned world premiere production of Erika Sheffer's The Fundamentals, directed by ensemble member Yasen Peyankov, who also directed Sheffer's Russian Transport at Steppenwolf in 2014.

Passage Theatre Company, Trenton's Barrymore Award-winning theatre company, under the leadership of Artistic Director June Ballinger and Managing Director Damion Parran,  opens  its 2016-2017 season with Leslie Ayvazian's comedy, Out of the City.  

The New Group will soon present Sweet Charity, the production launching the company's 2016-2017 Season. This twice-extended engagement, originally set to play through December 11, now runs through Friday, December 30.

You might not know of Gordon Greenberg yet, but that's all about to change. The writer, director and renaissance man has spent years making his mark in off Broadway, West End and regional theatre, working with top-notch performers and creators all around the world.

Charlotte Hope (Myranda in Game of Thrones, Allied, A United Kingdom), Jack Fortune (King Lear, Route Irish, Sparkling Cyanide), Barnaby Kay (A Streetcar Named Desire, The Real Thing, Wuthering Heights) and Gary Shelford (Twelfth Night, Angry Young Man) join the previously announced multi award-winning, international star Ed Harris (forthcoming HBO series from J.J. Abrams & Jonathan Nolan; Westworld, Pollock, The Hours and The Truman Show), Golden Globe winner Amy Madigan (Twice in a Lifetime, Roe vs. Wade), and Jeremy Irvine (War Horse, The Railway Man, Now is Good) to complete the cast in Sam Shepard's Pulitzer & Obie prize winning play, Buried Child, following a critically acclaimed New York run earlier this year.

Beginning October 24th and 25th with workshop early draft  readings of ALL FALL DOWN by Lisa Ramirez (PF Resident Playwright), the series continues monthly December 2016 through May 2017 with seven exceptional new works that are pushing into new theatrical territory, challenging assumptions, and presenting deeply felt dilemmas within our culture and world society.

For the first time in history,an American President is on trial for crimes against the world. The Trial of An American President, a new drama by Dick Tarlow with Bill Smith, will play off-Broadway at The Lion Theatre (410 W. 42nd Street) opening is this Thursday, September 29th. The show is produced by Shelter Entertainment LLC and Hello Larry Ltd and will play a limited engagement through October 15th. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

After 24 years of marriage, Tom and Renata call it quits so that each can unpack a complicated past, and arrive at an even more complicated future, in this alternatingly harrowing and comedic ensemble drama opening September 25 at Chicago Dramatists. With his quartet of dramas concerning the Apple family of Rhinebeck, New York now being followed by his trilogy-in-progress concerning their fellow Rhinebeckers, the Gabriels, you might say that Richard Nelson has written more Chekhovian plays than Anton Chekhov.

The New Colony is pleased to announce its full 2017 Season, featuring four world premiere productions by four Chicago playwrights. The season kicks off this winter with ensemble member Sean Kelly's fantasy adventure PSYCHONAUT LIBRARIANS, directed by Krissy Vanderwarker.
