The Grammys Will Go On: A Death In The Family is a new one-hour special that looks at how the show's producers, host, and musical artists made last-minute changes to the program against the backdrop of tragic and unforeseen circumstances. The GRAMMY Foundation - one of two affiliated charities of The Recording Academy - announced today that Ryan Seacrest has been appointed Honorary Chair of the GRAMMY Foundation Board. The GRAMMY Foundation offers year-round music education programs for high school students and schools; and advancement, archiving and preservation, and grant-making programs to safeguard important collections and fund research at the intersection of music and science. Seacrest joins current GRAMMY Foundation Board Chairman and new venture backer Rusty Rueff; Vice Chair Tim Bucher, founder and CEO of TastingRoom.com and Silicon Valley-based entrepreneur; Secretary/Treasurer Geoff Cottrill, chief marketing officer of Converse; and Chair Emeritus Beatriz R. Perez, chief sustainability officer of the Coca-Cola Company, in leadership positions at the organization.

The Recording Academy today announced its 2013 Special Merit Awards recipients. This year's Lifetime Achievement Award recipients are Glenn Gould, Charlie Haden, Lightnin' Hopkins, Carole King, Patti Page, Ravi Shankar, and the Temptations; Trustees Award honorees are Marilyn and Alan Bergman, Leonard and Phil Chess, and Alan Livingston; and Ikutaro Kakehashi and Dave Smith, and Royer Labs are Technical GRAMMY Award recipients.

The Recording Academy's GRAMMY Recordings and Capitol Records have teamed to release the 2013 GRAMMY Nominees album, which will be available today, Jan. 22, 2013, in stores and via digital retailers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS and The Recording Academy have announced a one-hour special on the making of 2012's Grammy Awards show. Among other behind-the-scenes footage, the documentary will feature how the team was able to pull together a Whitney Houston tribute with less than a day's notice.

According to published reports, singer Patti Page Passed away yesterday in Encinitas, California. She was 85 years old. The Recording Academy's President/CEO Neil Portnow released the following statement.

Alabama Shakes, Jackson Browne, Kenny Chesney, Ben Harper, Emmylou Harris, Faith Hill, Jim James, Elton John, Juanes, John Legend, Natalie Maines, Tim McGraw, Tom Morello, Mumford & Sons, Patti Smith, Mavis Staples, Sting, Eddie Vedder, and Neil Young will perform at the tribute concert in honor of 2013 MusiCares Person of the Year Bruce Springsteen. The sold-out gala will take place Feb. 8, 2013, two days prior to the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards. Additional performers will be announced shortly.
