Denver Center Attractions' The Bobby G Awards Joins NHSMTA; Deadline Extends to 2/8

Denver Center Attractions The Bobby G Awards, a regional high school musical theatre awards program, joins The National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) as a participating program for 2013. Due to this exciting announcement, the deadline for public and private high schools in the seven county Denver metro to apply has been extended to February 8. ANNIE Celebrates 100th Performance on Broadway Today

The new Broadway production of ANNIE celebrates its 100th performance on Saturday, February 2 at the Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street). The cast of the acclaimed production will celebrate the milestone with cupcakes generously provided by Magnolia Bakery.

This past weekend, Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman of "So You Think You Can Dance" attended a performance of Newsies, the Tony Award winning new American musical, and visited with the cast backstage afterwards. Andy Richardson to Replace Andrew Keenan-Bolger as 'Crutchie' in NEWSIES, 3/11

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Andy Richardson will replace Andrew Keenan-Bolger as 'Crutchie' in Newsies, which is currently playing at the Nederlander Theatre. As BroadwayWorld previously announced, Keenean-Bolger will soon leave the production to star in the pre-Broadway engagement of Tuck Everlasting at Boston's Citi Performing Arts Center. Richardson, who currently plays 'Romeo' will assume the role on March 11.

As the Colorado members of The Broadway League, Denver Center Attractions announces The Bobby G Awards - a regional awards program intended to feed into The Jimmy Awards encouraging and rewarding outstanding achievements in the production of high school musical theatre. Public and private high schools in the seven county Denver metro may apply for this regional program now through February 1, 2013. Breaking News: Disney's ALADDIN to Play Pre-Broadway Tryout in Toronto Starting November 2013; Broadway Spring 2014

Now, Disney Theatrical Productions has confirmed that Aladdin, a new musical based on the Academy Award winning animated film, will play its pre-Broadway engagement at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre(formerly the Canon) November 13, 2013 to January 12, 2014 and will open at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre in 2014. The show will feature music by Alan Menken; lyrics by the late Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin with a book by Beguelin. Casey Nicholaw will direct and choreograph.

JEKYLL & HYDE Moves from Richard Rodgers to Marquis Theatre on Broadway; to Run April 5 - June 30

Lane/Bonnie Comley have just announced the first preview, opening night and ticket on-sale dates for the new Broadway production of JEKYLL & HYDE, starring Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis in the dual title role of 'Dr. Henry Jekyll' & 'Edward Hyde' and Grammy-nominated R&B superstar Deborah Cox as 'Lucy'.

Betty Buckley, Christopher Durang, and More to Be Inducted Into Theater Hall of Fame

On Monday, January 28, 2013 the Theatre Hall of Fame will welcome its 2013 inductees: Andre Bishop (producer/director), Betty Buckley (actor), Christopher Durang (playwright), Michael Kahn (director), Trevor Nunn (director), Martin Pakledinaz (costume designer), Paula Vogel (playwright), and Sam Waterston (actor). Tyne Daly will act as the Mistress of Ceremonies at the event.

MIKE TYSON: UNDISPUTED TRUTH Comes to Arsht Center, 4/16

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County has partnered with renowned producer/promoter Larry Magid to present MIKE TYSON: UNDISPUTED TRUTH, a one-man theatrical show performed by legendary boxer MIKE TYSON, directed by Spike Lee and produced by James Nederlander. Following a successful run on Broadway and in Las Vegas, MIKE TYSON: UNDISPUTED TRUTH embarks on a national tour that includes a one-night only engagement at the Arsht Center's Knight Concert Hall on April 16, 2013.

BIG FISH, a new musical based on the novel by Daniel Wallace and the 2003 Columbia Pictures film written by John August, will open Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52nd Street). Directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Contact, The Producers, The Scottsboro Boys), with music and lyrics by Grammy and Tony Award nominee Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party, The Addams Family), a book by Grammy and BAFTA Award nominee John August (Frankenweenie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Big Fish begins previews on Broadway Thursday, September 5, 2013.
