International Contemporary Ensemble Featured in PROTOTYPE Festival

The International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) is featured in two events as part of the fifth annual PROTOTYPEfestival - the New York City premiere of David Lang and Mark Dion's theatrical work anatomy theater, and the Silent Voices concert.

Lehmann Maupin Announces Solo Exhibition for Kader Attia, 1/13

Lehmann Maupin is pleased to announce its second solo exhibition for Kader Attia. This will be the New York debut of Attia's multimedia video installation, Reason's Oxymorons (2015), which premiered at the 13th Biennale de Lyon in 2015. Reason's Oxymorons is a video library comprised of 18 interviews presented within a modular cubicle environment. The interviews feature European and African ethnographers, psychiatric and philosophical practitioners, and theorists discussing topics grouped under titles including "Genocide," "Totem and Fetish," "Reason and Politics," and "Trance." On Friday, January 13, there will be a media preview at 11 AM, and the gallery will host a public opening reception for the artist that evening from 6-8 PM.

Dumbo Improvement District Presents Leonard Ursachi's DRIFT

DUMBO artist Leonard Ursachi's newest installation, "Drift", is in residence under the Archway in DUMBO, across from the Pearl Street Triangle, starting today. The installation is presented by the DUMBO Improvement District in partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation Art Program. It will remain in the Archway until the end of March 2017.

Sydney's Premier Cultural Institutions Announce 49 Artists for THE NATIONAL: NEW AUSTRALIAN ART 2017

Sydney's premier cultural institutions today announced 49 artists to present work in the inaugural edition of The National: New Australian Art. Opening on 30 March 2017 and running simultaneously as a unified exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW), Carriageworks and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA), The National 2017: New Australian Art is the first edition of a six-year initiative, presented in 2017, 2019 and 2021, exploring the latest ideas and forms in contemporary Australian art. 

A Place for Global Theatre Artists and Storytellers to Convene and Develop New Work

Four stories of family, gender, female empowerment and migration comprise the projects supported by Sundance Institute's Theatre Program at its two-week Lab at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), taking place December 4-18. Dedicated to the creation and development of new musical theatre work, the Lab's projects are cast individually, rehearsed daily and benefit from concentrated, uninterrupted time and resources.

ICA Miami Presents German Artist Thomas Bayrle During Art Basel Miami, Today

The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) presents a major survey of renowned German artist Thomas Bayrle, opening on November 29, 2016, during Art Basel Miami Beach. Marking the first American museum presentation dedicated to the artist, One Day on Success Street traces Bayrle's exploration of the profoundly complex impact of technology on humans and their environments over the course of his nearly 50-year career and across a range of media including painting, sculpture, video, collage, and installation. A centerpiece of the survey will be Wire Madonna, a newly commissioned and monumental site-specific installation created for ICA Miami's Atrium Gallery. Organized by Deputy Director and Chief Curator Alex Gartenfeld and Assistant Curator Stephanie Seidel, and on view through March 26, 2017, the exhibition marks ICA Miami's final presentation in the landmark Moore Building, as it looks forward to the opening of its new permanent home in the Miami Design District in late 2017.

Dominique Levy Presents Works by Lee Seung-taek

Dominique Lévy is pleased to announce the gallery's representation of Lee Seung-taek (b. 1932) in the United States. Lee's experimental practice holds an influential place in the history of Korean art; throughout his career, he has challenged traditionally held notions of identity and history, forging a new path for artistic exploration of environment, culture, and philosophy.

Chicago Dancemakers Announces Open Call for Lab Artist Awards

Chicago Dancemakers Forum (CDF), under the leadership of Executive Director Ginger Farley, is pleased to announce its open call for applications for Lab Artist Awards in 2017, marking the program's 14th year. The most significant, sustained sources of support for individual choreographers working in Chicago, CDF's four Lab Artist Awards each include a $15,000 cash grant, combined with a full year of mentorship, as recipients explore and develop new works. The program fosters dance excellence and innovation while building relationships among artists, presenters, audiences and funders.
