Lyceum Theatre Opens Their 50th Season with THE PRODUCERS 6/2 - 6/12

The Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre's 50th Anniversary Season opens on June 2nd with the Lyceum premiere of Mel Brooks' THE PRODUCERS running through June 12. Winner of a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards in 2001 including Best Musical, this outrageously funny musical tells the story of a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer (Max Bialystock), played by Dana Snyder. Dana is returning to the Lyceum stage after a 16 year hiatus during which time he has appeared in many regional theatres from Austin to Cleveland.

FIVE GUYS NAMED MOE, take over the Grandel Stage on March 24th The Black Rep opens the third mainstage production of Season 33. The show features the music of legendary horn player Louis Jordan. Lead character Nomax, whose girlfriend has left him and who is without money, finds Big Moe, Four-Eyed Moe, Eat Moe, No Moe, and Little Moe emerging from his 1930's-style radio to comfort him. They sing the hit songs of songwriter and saxophonist Louis Jordan, whose new slant on jazz paved the way for rock and roll in the 1950s.

Totem Pole Playhouse Receives $1 million pledge

Totem Pole Playhouse Board of Directors announced a $ 1 million pledge at its kickoff celebration for a $ 2.5 million capital campaign April 22, 2010 at Hauser Estate Winery, Biglerville. The campaign, fully supported by the Board of Directors, called 'Recalling the Past, Embracing the Future' has already received $100,000 of the million dollar pledge which was used to install brand new seats in the auditorium and revamp both bathrooms on the East side of the Playhouse.

Totem Pole Playhouse received a $1 million pledge at its Capital Campaign kick off celebration on April 22 at Hauser Estate Winery in Biglerville. The donor, Charles Q. Smith, is a 60 year Totem Pole season ticket holder and former board member. The $2.5 million dollar Capital Campaign will support upgrades to the 40 year old theatre and one million of the campaign has been earmarked for the existing endowment.

Singing in German, French, and English, Kim Smith reinterprets works by Weimar-era composers, and modern-day artists alike, from Mischa Spoliansky and the Supremes, to Kurt Weill and Kylie Minogue, as he charts a ruinous path through the arrivals and departures of a neo-Weimar, musical misfit. Jerry Steichen accompanies on piano, Christian Coulson directs.
