Flaming Dames Set for NERDLESQUE, 3/26-5/7, & STORM DIVISION 3/20-6/26

On March 26th, The Flaming Dames shed their anything-but-mild-mannered alter-egos to bring your adolescent fantasies to life in 'Nerdlesque', a send up to the classic comic book, sci-fi beauties that most fan-boys have only dreamed of, on the stage at The Spot, located in the heart of Uptown. With the help of hosts, Uber-Nerd JangoFett69 and frat-meathead Randy, and appearances by some of the most famous heroines and sci-fi foxes ever committed to comic book and screen, the Dames promise a night of dreams come true for the 12 year old kid in all of us.

NOISES OFF! Ends Run at Slayton House, 3/14

Silhouette Stages' production of the classic comedy Noises Off! plays its final show on March 14 at 3 PM at the beautiful Slayton House Theater in Wilde Lake, Columbia.

Motley Theatre Presents MANTO ISMAT HAZIR HAI, 3/31

This production, the second in Motley's intended series of presentations on stage of Hindustani short stories, centres around the word obscene. Two short stories Bu(Odour)by Saadat Hasan Manto, and Lihaaf(The Quilt) by Ismat Chughtai, for which the writers were, in the mid 1940's, accused of obscenity and put to trial by the Lahore High Court, will be presented along with Ismat Apa's account of the trial, called In the name of those married women and another celebrated Manto story The Dog of Titwal.

Kinney To Direct FIFTH OF JULY For Williamstown Theatre Festival 4/11-4/22

Williamstown Theatre Festival (Nicholas Martin, Artistic Director) announced today that Terry Kinney (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest; reasons to be pretty) will direct a production of Lanford Wilson's modern classic Fifth of July, which will play the WTF Main Stage from August 11 - 22, 2010. A co-production with Bay Street Theatre, this gentle comic drama from Wilson's beloved Talley Trilogy will be the final Main Stage production of the season.

A Red Orchid Theatre's ABIGAILS' PARTY Extends Thru April 25

A Red Orchid Theatre Artistic Director Kirsten Fitzgerald announces the extension of Mike Leigh's Abigail's Party, directed by Shade Murray and featuring A Red Orchid Ensemble Members Kirsten Fitzgerald, Danny McCarthy, Mierka Girten and Larry Grimm, with Natalie West. The hit production now runs through April 25, 2010, at A Red Orchid Theatre, 1531 N. Wells.

Geva Theatre Presents TWO TRAINS RUNNING, 4/3-4/25

When August Wilson died in 2005, America lost one of its most influential playwrights. Wilson's legacy - a cycle of ten plays encompassing the 20th Century, continues to captivate audiences around the world for its poeticism and beauty. Geva Theatre Center, as part of its five-year commitment to presenting all ten plays in 'August Wilson's American Century,' will produce the seventh play of the cycle, Two Trains Running, opening March 30 and running through April 25.

Review: Solid Cast Elevates SCR's FENCES Revival (Ends 2/21)

August Wilson's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning FENCES, currently playing at South Coast Repertory through February 21, certainly has the pedigree of a respected, celebrated play-and it shows. In this hard-working, admirable revival directed by Seret Scott, Wilson's character study of a broken, flawed man and the people that envelope him, is fiercely grounded with raw, irrational emotions, which force the kind of remarkable, impassioned performances that only a cast this seasoned can deliver effortlessly-most notably Robinson, Jennings and Bates.
